UPDATED: JAN 21, 2018 Tasted bottled at red rock brewing SLC, UT. Amber color. alcohol. maltiness is not that strong compared to other red ales. Its afterall not that bad imperial red ale, but u expect more from 20th anniversary special edition. Ibrew2or3 (9047) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 1, 2017
500mL bottle pours with a clear amber to mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up malts, crystal malts, woody hops, some pine hops and grassiness. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of sweet malts, crystal malts, a dash of molasses and toffee and then sliding into the hoppy notes. I get woody and spicy hops as well as pine hops and thin earthy tea. This is a pretty solid imperial red with a nice balance and sippability. voyageurmike (524) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 29, 2016
Bottle from the Park City state store. Dark reddish brown and clear, off-white head. Boozy once it warms, but before that hops with malt underneath. Long finish. Itzjerm (3252) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - JUN 26, 2016

Robust ruby/mahogany pour with half inch of dense cream head. Soft carbonation, thick but frothy mouthfeel, effervescent finish. Earthy aroma with pine pitch, caramel malt, bit of cream. Flavor has sweet but robust caramel malt, toffee, subtle but well paired piney hops. Smooth and easy going but not super unique.

Well balanced malt character matched well with a nice amount of hops. I liked this beer for its overall balance. I never would have guessed it was 9.5% ABV.
