Poured up at the Avenues Proper Publick House out of a 50cl bottle which resulted in a full glass of beer with a nice and dark body that supports a full tan head of foam that leaves behind sheet lacing. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, some spicy anise like black licorice and then a light amount of toffee mixed with dark fruity esters. The taste is rich and roasty with dark roasted malts rolling into chocolate malts and spicy black licorice. It picks up a faint but pleasing degree of sweet dark fruity esters that mingle seamlessly with the dark roastiness into the finish. Nice stuff.

Bottle at home. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy tan head, long retention. Aroma is moderate roast, rich bready and chocolate malt with leather, figs and prunes, light woody and earthy hops. Flavor is moderate roast, chocolate and rich bready malt, lightly spicy coffee and pepper notes, prunes, medium woody and earthy hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

For an Imperial this comes in at imperial. Flavor good, alcohol content good, just not over the top on the blend of nose and tasre

From bottle itís deep brown with a short head. Malt-driven aroma is chocolate fudge, salt and pepper phenols, a warming note of buttery alcohol, and a more interesting roast quality that seems backgrounded. In the mouth itís medium-full bodied, rich and sweet, suitably balanced by modest bitterness with a lingering chocolate brownie roasted malt finish. Solid and straightforward.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (chocolate syrup, roasted grain, nuts), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a note of vanilla. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. An overly sweet and fairly straightforward version. No surprises, either good or bad, just a standard, sweet, chocolate-and-vanilla-centric stout. Hard to drink much, but the alcohol is hidden pretty well.

500ml thanks sledutah. Leaked a bit in transit but pours black wiht a large light tan head. Aroma is dark cocoa, bread, caramel. Flavor is acidic coffee, peat, cocoa, boozy, bitter, and acidic. Decent.

Thanks Craig (Sledeutah). Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark brown close to brown color with an off white to tan thin foamy head that dissipated fairly quickly. Concave lacing clings to the sides of the glass nicely. The aroma has a superb blend of the roast to the sweet. Roasty coffee beans bounce on sweet milk chocolate. And then dark chocolate slides in. An ample amount of caramel and toffee slide in. Subtle toast, sly caramel, and some light dark fruits nuance the underneath portion of this. Refined dark fruits. The flavor has an absolutely beautiful balance of the roasty coffee beans to the sweet milk chocolate. Dark chocolate graces it nicely with a nice dry semi-sweet to bitter aftertaste. Quick semi-sweet to a shy bitter-ish finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium to almost full on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation feels pretty refined. Long roasty to bitter luscious stickiness hits my tongue exceptionally well. Overall, Russian Imperial Stout? Damn right it is, and an absolutely well done one. Practically perfect, in my opinion, I havenít had an RIS this good since......well, I donít know when.

Bottle thanks to sledutah enjoyed while watching the film The Lobster. Dark brown beer. Nose is chocolate and ash. Tastes of chocolate, molasses, char, coffee ground, and lactose. Creamy palate doesnít taste 10%.
