COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pilsner beer was first brewed in Bohemia, a German-speaking province in the old Austrian Empire. Pilsner is one of the most popular styles of lager beers in Germany, and in many other countries. It’s often spelled as “Pilsener”, and often times abbreviated, or spoken in slang, as “Pils.” Classic German Pilsners are very light straw to golden in color. Head should be dense and rich. Red Rock’s version is well-hopped, brewed using Noble hops such has Saaz, Hallertauer and Tettnanger. Lagered for five weeks and filtered bright. Prost!

Pours clear and golden with small head. Aroma spicy with a hint of meadow grass and slightly floral. Taste rather more malty although an interesting hint of hay comes through. Well carbonated and crisply refreshing.

Draft. Head is initially small, frothy, white, fully lasting. Body is light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (dough), with light notes of minerals and concrete. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively/fizzy carbonation. A little quiet in the nose (and kinda yeasty too), and not super flavorful in the mouth, but nicely balanced and pretty clean, with good body and texture for a 4% brew. Nowhere near the Froehlich, but still drinkable.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2016 From tap at the brewery in SLC it’s filtered clear gold and lightly sparkling with a short head. Quiet initial aroma impression is faint toast and grass but is soon overwhelmed by husky malt, which is especially bad retronasly in the finish where it comes across as sour saw dust. I get a little kettle caramelization / scorched sugar as well, and altogether the aroma/flavor profile struggles to show anything like authentic malt or hop. Yes it’s bubbly and lightly sweet, and the finish is enjoyable and the carbonation frothy... no fermentation defects present but both hop and malt are expressed so poorly and it sits kind of flabby-gelatenous on the palate. Turn your attention to the superb bottled version made at their production brewery (Frohlich Pils).

On tap at Red Rock, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light grassy hops and biscuity malt. Flavour is crisp, with grassy hops and biscuity malt. Light and refreshing but unexciting.

Pretty bland pilsener with a very light head and faint straw aroma. Not much on the hops or high hits. Basic.

Niet echt bijzonder, laag light beer. Weinig schuimkraag en fletse smaak. Dat is alles.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a thick, fizzy white head. Tastes like pale malts, faint citrus, faint corn, and cracker malt. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like corn, cracker malt, and faint citrus.
