Growler from brewery. Pours a rich amber color with a big sticky eggshell colored foam. Great aromas of rich toasted malt, sweet caramel, juicy fruit, hints of earthy spice and a touch of floral grassiness. On the palate the beer continues to deliver with great balance between ripe hop character and complex malt structure. Great round caramel notes, baked pear and some rustic earthy spice that bitters out nicely on the finish. Top Notch.
Pours a red amber color with little to no head. Not a very intense aroma but I do get some roasted malts and that’s about it. Taste is woody with slight caramel a bit of bitterness and again with a crisp and refreshing finish. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2013
On tap at Blue Lobster and then a howler served into a Blue Lobster glass. Pours a moderate amber color. Nose has dank hops with a bit of earth and citrus in the background. Growler thanks to Wally. Pours clear copper, lightly effervescent with a fine, frothy white head. Dry caramel and toasty pine on the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate, piney bitterness, toasty bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, still more dry pine, toast, some orange citrus. Poured from a 750 ml bottle thanks to lukaduke. Amber with a white head of foam that dissipates at a reasonable rate. Aroma is definitely more malt forward than I expected, but still has a piny, herbal hop profile. Had on tap at the source. Pours light orange with a thin ringed head. Aromas of leather, white sage, pear skins, almond butter, sea salt, kilned malt and candle wax. Tastes of wheat, light caramel, white grapes, fried rice, and soil. Hops, pine park and vanilla by swallow.
