A Mes rate: Cask from a JDW. Strange blackberry note to the aroma. Not that much stouty about it but there are still the chocolate and coffee notes you would expect. Great colour. Well, it’s black as night but I like it like that. Flavour wise it’s just too sweet for me. The finish is the creamy stout like thing I was hoping for but initially it is all lost in the treacle sweetness. Nothing fantastic. leaparsons (10802) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2006
Cask, Leicester Fest 06. Very dark brown with an earthy head. Aromas are earthy roast malts with sweet coffee and some smokiness. Flavours are earthy roast malts with some chocolate. Light and dry with hints of metal. A decent dry stout. DanielBrown (4549) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2006
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. This was labelled simply "Irish Stout". Creamy, light Stout. Nice bitter flavour, with a light choc sweetness. A little milky. A good light example. SilkTork (5882) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - OCT 4, 2005
Maidstone Beer Festival, 2005. Damp autumn flavours. Quite dry. packed with flavour rather than style. Flavours clash all over the place. A bit of a mess.
