Albans BF 06. Nice roasty aroma. Quite an approachable stout, with notes of mocha and chocolate, in fact there is quite a pronounced mocha character throughout the flavour. Some light sweetness, then bitterness, flavour seems to linger quite nicely.
Cask (gravity dispense) at St Albans Beer Festival, September 2006. Very dark, almost black, colour with no head to speak of. Heavily roasted aroma. Oatmeal stouts are generally on the sweet side but this one certainly isn’t. Very dry, with more burnt malt on the palate, together with hints of bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel us relatively light but its certainly not weedy. I enjoyed this one and, because I had it before the rest of the gang arrived, I got to drink it all myself.
