Cask at Oxford Beer Festival 12-10-07 Poured black in colour, aroma was lacking slightly though there was some bitter notes, tasted a bit too sweet for me, there was some roastiness but it was struggling to come through.

I had two pints, both poured black and one had a little rocky brown head while the other had a very thick creamy one. Both looked fantastic and there was a lovely malty aroma. The taste was nice and burned with an oily hint and definite sweetness that by no means overpowered the pint and made it insipid. The alcohol gave it a nice warming note, but did not dominate the beer.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock with Rudiger. Thick black red colour with an oily ring of bubbles. Germoline stout nose. Sweet flavour and lacking some balance if Im honest. Not great.

Pint pulled at The Wenlonk Arms in Islington (London), black with a brown bubbly head. A tobacco-like aroma. Sweet and syrupy in the mouth, a warming alcohol and ashen malt flavour.
