Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Heavily spiced aroma, which is a good thing, but the ratio seemed a bit off. This one was heavy on allspice and clove instead of balanced with the cinnamon. A bit of roasted malt in the nose as well. Spicy flavor with cinnamon and allspice with a bit of roast before a dank finish. Seems like the clean finish is the toughest thing to nail in a spiced beer and these guys definitely struggled with it. FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 30, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2011 Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer pours a black color with a small tan head. The aroma is light sweet malt with a spicy undertone predominantly of nutmeg. The flavor is moderately sweet with strong nutmeg and light cinnamon elements. The finish is a bit nutty. Not terrible but way too much nutmeg for my taste. boto (2210) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - DEC 11, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2006 Draught @ Brew Pub: This was very good. This was the first time that I have someone take a seasonal pumpkin and make the base a porter. It pours an opaque brown with a small tan head. The nose is that of pumpkin spice. Also weak notes of roastiness and chocolate. Very robust malty beer, with taste of the pumpkin spices also. An excellent choice!
