It seems Jamaican lager is much like the well marketed American brands: thin and bland, though not as thin as its American counterparts. Red Stripe is not that smooth either. Its not offensive, its just not something I choose to drink regularly.

Review: 500ml Can of Red Stripe: ABV: 4.7% The taste of Jamaica On pour we get a light golden yellow colour, that produces a big frothy white head, with a lot of nice carbonation. The beer looks ok. A nice head that maintains, and some nice lacing. A slight beery smell on the nose, real lagery aroma. Malts and grains, but overall not a whole lot to smell. Faint. On taste I get a very nice mouthful of tastes, a filling and refreshing feel in the mouth. Tastes ok, mostly creamy, with some cereals tastes, and a good bit of grain. Nice enough. There is a very stringent taste though (lemon and lime), that lingers throughout which is not very nice and is very pointed. But overall has a real lagery taste and is quite sessionable Hard to rate and not bad, but would like to try again.

Pours bright golden yellow. Aroma is sweet grain. Taste is also on sweetish side with hardly any bitterness. A bit watery and thin. Not price worthy enough.

Pours wan straw yellow with an eggshell head that doesnt stick around. Aroma offers typical crisp lager malt. Flavor is hardly there but tolerable. Mouthfeel presents wimpy body and fizz. Well, had to try it.

Pale yellow pour with little white foam. Grassy hops and cereal malt in the nose. The body is light with lots of fizz. The hops have a citrusy taste at first and the malt finish is biscuity. Slightly watery body.

Aus der Flasche getrunken (Hndlerlieferung). Warum ein normaler Mitteleuroper das Zeug trinken soll, bleibt mir unergrndlich!

Almost as good as other Desnoes Gedes Yuengling interestingly multivariately bitter beers from Pennsylvania. The price at Walmart has been coming down, but other DG Yuengling beers cost a dollar or two less and taste a little better. Overall a fine way out of simple and sweet corporate brews. Goes easily and well with Aldi sausage and surviving indigenous graveyard greens.

From a bottle. Meh. Thats about it really, standard macro lager that probably tasted better fresh.

(Bottle) Pours clear yellow gold, with no head. Aroma of biscuity malt with some veggie and grass notes. Light body, well carbonated. Lemon tang in foretaste, quickly gives way to reasonable biscuity malt which fades away for a somewhat watery finish. Refreshing, drinkable, not great.
