3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
[Bottle] Pours an inky black color with vitrually no head at all on top. Nose is of deep roast, ash, licorice and espresso. The flavor profile is rich and charred. Dark malts, plum, burnt bread, toffee, chocolate cake and mild alcohol is noticeable in the flavor. Green apple notes come out as this beer warms up, which kind of detracts from the positive vibe I had going in drinking this. This beer should age nicely and I am looking forward to trying it again somewhere down the line.
Sour stout smell with a very weird unknown character to it. Taste followed the smell and this beer is just not good at all. daknole (11047) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - SEP 19, 2014
Deep brown, tan head. Ashy, tart, dry, earthy...pretty much a mess. Not enjoyable to speak of. Roonai (305) - - JUN 12, 2013

Bottle. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dry red wine notes with a bit of tart stone fruits and roasted malts. Flavor starts with light roasted malts but has a good amount of sour red fruits and dry red wine. OKplus (787) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 14, 2013
A - Very dark brown, almost black with 2 fingers of cocoa foam.
S - Roasted malt, peat moss, vinous dry red wine aromas, woody and a bit smokey. Mushrooms, sharp alcohol vapors,
T - Cola sweetness off the top then sour and earthy. Woody hops provide a bitterness mixed with a metal sourness. It has a smoked but tart soy sauce character. Prunes and tart grapes dry out what little sweet was to begin with. Finishes dry with dark chocolate and currants.
M - Thin side of medium, carbonation drops off after it sets.
This reminds me of a Baltic porter mixed with red wine. The mouthfeel was thin and lackluster. The sour/tart character did not add, but seemed to take away from the collective flavors. Too many off flavors that didn’t blend well. Maybe some age would do this good.

Black color with tan sheen. Mild dark fruit, vinous, chocolate, sugar aromas. medium body. Tart, spicy red wine flavors with semi-sweet chocolate, dirt/dust--not a big fan of sour stouts TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2012
25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with a bubbling tan head. Nose is chocolate and coffee; opens up to notes of molasses and tart berries. Medium body with a buzz and a tang. Taste is chocolate, sour cherry, red wine and black pepper. Likely infected but drinkable in a sour porter way. Atom (2441) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Bottle shared by mattyb83 pours a dark brown/black with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet like a tootsie roll, thin, raisin, and fig. Taste has an earthy sourness to it, with dirt, molasses, and tart cherry. Odd stout not sure if this was intentional, interesting not horrible. bhensonb (15187) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 16, 2012
Capped 750 from ericandersnavy. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Coffee bean aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is coffee bean over smooth burnt malt. It’s slightly sweet/sour. It’s going a bit thin in the finish., but the light sour enhances the dryness. Excellent.
