April 2017 - 330ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’Redchurch / De Molen Black & Brett’, 10%, bottled Jan 2016. Thickish pour - black, opaque beer with a dense foamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, oak, mint and Chewits. Yep definitely Chewits sweets. Quite appealing overall. Body is smooth and rounded with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste is dark chocolate, mint and coconut, tangy brett high notes but followed by rich ashy roast barley and salty, minty notes, no alcohol showing up. Lots of salt. The oak starts showing up more as it warms. Pretty outstanding overall. I normally dislike bretted stouts but this one is great. The ashy dark chocolate vs salt linger is something a bit special. I’d say it will be better in a couple of years too. (4.3)

Lovely rich warm aroma of sweet candy, Christmas fruits, and vanilla. Opaque dark brown with no head. Sour, smooth, rich, creamy, the flavor profile goes up and down and up again. This is fantastic.

Pours black, ring of tan head. Aroma is a bit sour and chocolatey. Cocoa and coffee grounds in the flavor. Not as much burn as I’d expect for being 10%. Medium-full body. Somewhat astringent.

33cl bottle at home from de Molen, Bodegraven. Nose is dark berries, roasty. Body is pitch black, head is big, brownish, creamy, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is dried fruits, chocolate, cherry, dark roasted coffee, licorice, herbs. Light sweet, heavy bitter, light fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting hoppy and roasty heavy bitter, short lasting fruity sour, light alcohol warmth. Full body, oily slightly sticky texture, average carbonation. Quite heavy, interesting, rich aroma, bit out of balance, nice one.
