Handpull cask at the Champion of the Thames, Cambridge. Deep golden, clear with a few white foamy bubbles masquerading as head. Light sulphur in the aroma, some wheaty grain, dried grass. Taste is bittersweet with a well-judged astringency and an nice sour note. Some savoury/spicy hoppy notes in the finish with a bitter medicinal aftertaste. Fuller body than most basic bitters, but this isn’t really basic. It’s got a pleasant complexity to it, and it feels good to have it in my mouth. Cask at The Earl Grey Inn, Leek. A clear pale amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma of orange zest, lemon, a hint of curry powder and some spicy hops. Taste of orange, lemon, slight biscuity malts and some spicy hops. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A soft, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. An extremely easy drinking bitter, lots of citrus zest in the aroma and a balanced taste. Simple but I enjoyed it. Grumbo (2827) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2016
Cask at The Dolphin, Holborn, London. Pours clear golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of light hop, caramel, fruit and malt. Medium sweetness, and bitterness. Light/medium body, texture slightly oily. Soft carbonation. Finish is more bitter with a moderate sweetness. Rather nice, good for a sub 4% ale. planky84 (3214) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2016

On tap. Pretty much what you’d expect, well balanced hop flavours, just enough to be interesting, very drinkable.

Clear golden colour with a small white head.
Airy and malty aroma. Weak.
Mild malty flavour. Watery. Utterly flavourless. Bad.
Sweet hoppy aroma. Dark caramel tones. Tastes really syrupy, thick and sweet.
