The beer pours a clear brown color with a large khaki head. The aroma is honey, oak and caramel malt. Overall, the aroma is not that impressive and could be a little stronger and more up front. The flavor is heavy on the oak with some chocolate and toasted malts. The oak is a little overwhelming and could be toned down a bit, but it is still pretty good. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. ucusty (2693) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - JUN 2, 2010
Hazy copper pour with a thick kahaki colored head. Aroma is roast, toffee and caramel. Flavor is lightly roasted, chocolate and toffee. Finish shows the honey and some vanilla jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 13, 2010
Poured a medium brown with some haze. Unexpectedly hoppy. Some nice malt characters to balance out the flavors. Roasted nuts, caramel, perfume, floral, some bits of orange peel. Smooth. Easy to drink. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JUN 19, 2010
22. Pours a murky dark brown with a dense and somewhat pillowy tannish head. Nice caramel and brown bread nose. Creamy medium body with mild carb. Toast, caramel, brown bread, and a bit of molasses on the mid-palate. Mild yeasty tang in there, vaguely reminiscent of fruitcake with dark pitted tree fruit in it but that’s a distant note, nowhere near the foreground by any means. Mild caramel and toast finish. Doesn’t have as much flavor as you might expect for the abv, even given a brown as a base recipe. There are definitely more assertive browns out there with half the alcohol. Still, it’s appealing, and hides the alcohol well enough, even if it is a bit on the mild side in terms of the flavor profile. robforbes (2278) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - JUN 20, 2010
pours a clear amber-red with a very small off-white head, and some lacing.
smell is of toffee, cotton candy, and some spice.
taste is thick and smooth, caramel, a little sweetness, malt, hops in the back, spice, and pepper, ends a little oily and nicely bitter.

Aroma mineral hop feel with malty nose , touch of brown malts. Good.
Appearance clear dark amber with medium dark beige top. Some lace. 3+
Flavor and Palate : Full bodied. Plenty of malts in here. Oily body , caramel with slight hints of alcohol. Neat strong brew. Good as sipper.
Not sure I get the haters. Pours an amber with some head, clear. Nose is tannin and honey. Flavor is honey light sweetness with a bitter, oaky finish. Like OBAB without the expensive price tag. skortila (6009) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - AUG 19, 2010
Wesy USA trip 2010. Bottled. The aroma has caramel, raisin, grass, some oats. Clear, amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is a bit sweet, slightly bitter and has grass, caramel, sugar, raisin, some wood. Nice one. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Bomber pours clear mahogany with deep copper hues and short lived tan head. The modest aroma is smooth with sweet malts, some honey and sweet smelling dark fruity esters to go along with a faint background of caramel covered wood. The taste starts both smooth and rich and then ends a bit rough with booze. I get roasted malts and a bit of honey. By midway roasty malts are met with nuttiness, sweet dark fruitiness and wood. Into the finish booziness grows to sort of harsh levels before this dies off into the after taste. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - SEP 10, 2010
Bottle: Pours a transparent deep copper amber with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet toasty caramel and toffee nose with some light fruity complexity and a doughy yeast. Starts with good fullness and chewy caramel sweetness with a decent hop bitterness and a touch of oak before a drier, bittersweet finish. Pretty true to style and fairly drinkable barleywine.
