Ben Harris Beer is Redhookís special take on the classic Cream Ale style, brewed in tribute to our friend and teammate, Ben Harris. This is a beer that Ben would have wanted to drink. Itís a beer brewed for those who work hard and play hard, just as Ben did. But most importantly, itís a beer brewed for us to share as we remember and celebrate Benís life. Ben liked a touch of hops in his beer, so we hopped up a classic cream ale recipe, Redhook style. Benís Beer was brewed with ingredients youíd expect to find in a cream ale: two row barley, carapils for a touch of sweetness, victory malt for a touch of breadiness and a dose of corn for good measure. We hopped it up with some Sterling, Saaz, and Hallertau hops to create a crisp, clean and refreshing beer just for Ben.

The beer itself pours a lovely golden color and smells like a nice bowl of frosted flakes. As soon as it hits the tongue you get a nice mix of sweet malts and bitter hops and the hops finish all the way down. Amazingly crisp and very drinkable all the way through.

Pretty standard for the style. Not a whole lot going on in terms of flavor, but has a nice texture to it and it drinks easily. Thereís a bit of a biscuity flavor and the hops are a little more forward than youíd expect. Overall: meh.

12oz bottle. Pours a pale yellow with very little white head. Sorry Ben but nothing great here. I guess for the style itís OK but I really donít get this one. It taste like a slightly above average typical macro.

Bonus appearance point because I dig the new Redhook bottles. Dark yellow, nicely carbonated, not much head. Smells like toast and I donít know, beer? It smells like beer. There. Iíve said it. Taste is bready, toasty, with a grassy hop finish.

9th August 2012<br<GBBF - as Redhook Cream Ale 4.8%. Cask. Hazy pale gold beer. Small bubbly white head. Light palate. Interesting flavour of peach and apricot, very slightly sour, over creamy malt. Semi dry finish. Good. Didnít realise at the time this would ultimately be the tribute beer so hats off to Ben Harris.
