Aroma of chocolate, and maybe some malt. Very dark brown color; very little head. It ends with chocolate, but it starts with coffee. There are some hops, thinnish body, some undistinguishable fruit. Pleasant to quaff. A bit fresher than many porters. Lively. The aftertaste is coffee with some light bitterness. Took a fair while to get to the aftertaste. djd07 (15543) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours a dark ruby brown with a medium cremy light tan head that diminishes quickly leaving behind decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is a fruity malt with raisin and light roast. Thin mouthfeel with a bitter taste with light coffee and chocolate. Easy to drink, a good porter from Redhook. Ratman197 (15360) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 4, 2008
Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a minimal lingering ring of amber foam. Areomas of charcoal, coffee and roastiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, charcoal and bakers cocoa with a smooth bitter finish. Tmoney99 (14965) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 7, 2005
Bottle. Black color with good porter aroma. Medium complex flavor with good finish. Had at home with barbecue ribs. Good combo. Lubiere (14151) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 2, 2005
Deep black porter with no head. Sweetish herbal aroma with coffee notes. Sweet porter with notes of cold coffee and licorice. Oily mouthfeel which surrounds the mouth, rich and smooth. Bitterness from hops noted in mid tastting. One of the good red hook products. Bought in Scotia NY.

Black body with medium tan head. Aroma is roasty, coffee, some caramel, faint nutty. Taste is very roasty, solid coffee, with light chocolate. Light-medium body. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 12, 2007
UPDATED: APR 24, 2009 Bottle. Disappointing product from an otherwise top-notch brewery. Pours very dark with no head. Strong anise aroma, very thin taste. Some coffee/caramelish flavors right at the end, but too little, too late. Nothing to see here, move along. Christian (13815) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 26, 2007
Cask-GBBF. Black with a tiny light brown head. Roast aroma, some chocolate and licorice. Roast flavour with the right London-porter charcoal note, but rather thin. BeerandBlues2 (13813) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 25, 2005
Pours black with a small tan head that starts fading immediately leaving a thin rocky film on top and some thin lacing. Aroma is dry dark roasted malts with a hop nose. Smooth dark roasted malt and chocolate flavor. Palate is medium-bodied and refreshing, a little dry. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUL 25, 2006
(Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and cocoa. Flavor is reminiscent of an English porter with rye, roasted malt, mild hops, and chocolate.
