Honey/amber color, small white head. Aroma is malty heavy. Taste is also malty heavy and full of sweetness, fruity hoppiness but no bitterness... Anywhere. Medium body, soft carbonation. Weird. It appears this doesnt age well.birraiolo (319) - ITALY - NOV 13, 2015

Bottigli da 12 oz. Colore ambrato schiuma pochissima bianca. Profumi lievotosi , lasciano spazio a caramello e agrumi. Al palato il debole amaro iniziale si trasforma in citrico astringente che lega il palato. Martinus (4737) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - NOV 6, 2015
Amber golden colour, slight white head. Aroma of floral hops, malts, caramel, somewhat fruity and herbal. Light bitter flavour, light floral, light herbs. Herbal finish.bpreo (3011) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - NOV 2, 2015

Redhooks signature beer that I have seen on the shelves for years, but never actually tried. Well, tonight is the night. hawthorne00 (4198) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 29, 2015
Bottle. Clear amber with a white head. Gentle aroma of bread crusts, peach, vague but pleasant and quite bright "other" fruit, mild spices. Just a little sweetness in the bread and biscuit malt, light floral and vague fruity notes. Quite dry and moderately bitter at the end. A little strong for what it offers, but decent enough.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/11/2015. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing cling down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of honey, light caramel, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, light pear/apple, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of honey, light caramel, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, light pear/apple, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Fair amount of dryness after the finish as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, lightly creamy/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good ESB style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth, clean, and easy to drink. This was a lot cleaner than I expected from the yeast character; but was still a nicely enjoyable offering, and fit the style well. MetalNHopHead (2271) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - OCT 4, 2015
Red Hook ESB has a bit of a following and I’m pretty fond of this style, so I was expecting great things. I was let down. In fairness, this is an average ESB with above-average looks (especially that perfect snowy head). Flavor is pretty one-dimensional. Sweet malts and that’s basically it. Oh well. At least I can finally say I’ve had it. alex_leit (5316) - Minsk, BELARUS - AUG 4, 2015

12 oz bottle from Rockhead. Pours a clearish orange colour with average whiteish head. Aroma is gently toasty with caramel, fruity malt and a gentle citric note. Flavour is big on sweet caramelly and fruity maltiness, and has some lightly toasted bread and subtle citric hops. Relatively gentle carbonation. Pleasant.
