1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
I was long of the opinion that Pac NW ales were generally overhopped.. this was before I really got into IPAs, now I think I might have been wrong. I havent had RedHook Long Hammer IPA in forever and what I find is a very light, mild IPA that is much more of a light Pale Ale than an IPA. It is light in color, has a nice citrus and straw aroma but has very little distinct hop taste. It will fool you with its 6.5% alcohol content because you cant taste it! If you would like an IPA that you can drink a bunch of with no lingering traditional IPA bitterness then this is for you. If you want a tasty lip smacking IPA, why not try one of Stone’s IPAs.
Bottle 355ml (The Oak Barrel, HEL). Golden, medium-sized white fluffy head, lace. Aroma has citrus and fruits. Medium-bodied. Citrus, piney-resiny hoppyness. Lingering bitterness. Clean and clinic. Towey1989 (2835) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2017
Keg at Brewski, Chorlton. A clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of lemon, some bready malts and slight floral hops. Taste of lemon, some orange, a hint of pine, slight bready malts and subtle floral hops. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, crisp and clean, lemony hop bitterness in the finish. Quite bland and boring for an IPA, but saying that, it’s a classic IPA. Crisp and clean but overall uninspiring. leduardol (147) - - JUN 27, 2017

Hmm. Not a huge fan. Bottle in luppolo Wanstead. Recommended by the bar man. Quite malty. None of the normal IPA hoppy, piney notes. Pretty boring. Drinkable though. BBHansen (939) - Køge, DENMARK - MAR 19, 2017
bottle @ parents. Appearance: clear golden with ok soapy white head and lacing. aroma/taste: grain, grapefruit and some floral notes. Palette: medium us hoppy aroma, average carbonation, medium body, average sweetness, balanced by a medium to notable bitterness, average duration and a watery texture. Overall: quite decent ipa
