Dark brown black. Light aroma light roast light choc light coffee slight caramel and swirled gives bready malts. Very slight spices in taste otherwise standard porter. Almost lactose but maybe slick feel from pumpkin. Herbal light citrus finish.Disappointed overall. Decent enough porter but was expecting more character.

12 oz. bottled Jul 15, 2015. Pours jet black with a spongy foam on top. Nose is earthy pie spice with some coffee, cocoa and dark toast. Flavors are earthy pie spice, squash, espresso and dark chocolate. A little heavy on the nutmeg and ginger. Still, lots of roast and pumpkin fight back to make this one quite a peasant surprise. Medium body has a pleasant, low-medium carbonation and a very drinkable balance.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2016 Bottle from Signal Variety in Plaistow NH. Aroma is strong pumpkin and associated spices--nutmeg, cinnamon. Color is dark brown--almost black with insignificant transient tan head fading quickly to a ring but with evident sparkle and nice lacing. Taste is mainly sweet pumpkin flavor with spices in aroma plus hint of anise. Palate is medium to full body with thick texture and lively carbonation (a little too much, especially for a porter) with a fairly abrupt finish. Overall, I like the pumpkin being used in a porter--not your average pumpkin beer. This is a pretty average porter but would be a great Spice/Herb/Vegetable beer if classified that way.

Bottle. Deep brown body with a foamy tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, cinnamon, nutmeg. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture , lively carbonation. Bitter roast and pumpkin spices dominate the taste.

25-30 SRM, lots of pumpkin spice, creamy head. Definitely drinkable, no chewiness. Dark malt backbone helps prop up the heavy spice. One of the better halloween brews I had this year. (Just found this at the back of my fridge) :) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
