12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured very dark brown, with about a finger and a half of foamy beige head that leaves some lacing on the glass. Aroma is mostly roasted malts but there are also pumpkin and spices in there too. Taste is sweet at the front, roast malts balanced with pumpkin and spices and a slight bitterness towards the end. bodied; and aroma and flavors come to life as it warms up a bit. Nice interesting beer. very good for the fall season.
This is a good pumpkin brew, but lets start with the bottle first... Ugh! Come on Red Hook, appearance is everything. It looks like a medicine bottle, or a bottle of molasses, not beer. Otherwise, the brew,"Out of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter" is good for a pumkin beer and a porter. It pours a dark brown color with a healthy head. Little to no lacing. Its got a mild porter aroma and taste. I definitely taste the pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. I think its the ginger flavor that masks some of the more traditionally rich porter characteristics. The taste finishes with the maple syrup flavor, but not too sweet. Although I never saw much lacing or bubbles, the feel was that of a mild, fizzy stout and enjoyable. Overall, I’d say this is a smooth, mild-moderate full-bodied, porter with really good holiday spice flavors. Very drinkable and it goes well with any Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Hanukkah meal. Good job Red Hook (just find a more attractive bottle!)! hershiser2 (3480) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - DEC 9, 2016
Bottle from Total Wine, Gainesville. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroms of cinnamon and nutmeg, some vegetation as well... whether that’s pumpkin or not I cannot tell. Flavor is cinnamon and nutmeg, light maple notes at first (which linger). More of a spiced Chirstmas tea flavor than pumpkin, but not bad. kidobutai (693) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - OCT 29, 2016
Poured from a bottle. Cloudy dark, slight head, a little weak for a porter. Can’t really taste the pumpkin though. rdixon77 (2874) - Georgia, USA - OCT 20, 2016
Not a bad pumpkin porter. Smoky body with the fall spices. Which are just a bit sweet for the beer. Decent fall six pack beer KY_Beerhead (22) - - OCT 19, 2016
Big fan of Porters, just not Pumpkin Porters. Literally poured it out. I’ll stick to pies and Jack O Lanterns.

Redhook Out of Your Gourd has parts of a Pumpkin Beer with spice and Porter with chocolate malts. Yet it doesn’t really seem to sum up both styles in a cohesive Fall seasonal. Light bodied and the chocolate malts dominate the palate. johnnymusky (983) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 9, 2016
Bottle from gary...900th beer tried...semi-milestone...lots of pumpkin on the nose....taste is good but lots of spiceyness...nice cold weather beer. ehaak26 (574) - - OCT 9, 2016

Bottle. Dark pour with some head. Mostly spice, cinnamon, lighter pumpkin and dark roasted areas. Flavors are dark, spice, cinnamon, and malty flavors. Spice beer before porter, but still has porter notes. Jow (3960) - New York, USA - SEP 19, 2016
One of the few non-NY or new England breweries at Troy brewfest. Dark pour nose is light pumpkin spice and chcolatey porter. Tastes of dark chocolate, cola, earthy, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove. Spices are subdued and touch of wood tones on finish.pretty good.
