09-AUG-2013, bottle @home, from Kvickly.
Clear golden with sediments floating. Low white head that laces a bit.
Aroma is toast and hops. Hops are not very citric but more earthy or tobaco’ish. Taste the same. Some malty sweetness. Medium body and carbonation. Short, slightly bitter and somewhat fruity finish.
Fine lager. puboflyons (3433) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 22, 2013
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The actual name of this is Cross Czech Pils. The one I’m reviewing probably came from the Portsmouth, New Hampshire brewery. The pour is straw yellow with a quick foamy white head that quickly evaporates. The aroma is incredibly unique. I was expecting grains and grass like so many other pilseners but while I got some of that there was also a toasted bread and malt character and a vague earthy hop note. But there was something else that I cannot pin down. Light to medium body. The taste has the same characteristics as the body and I really like this buttery, toasty flavor that makes no sense to me but is entirely delightful. It may not be typical for the pilsener style but its uniqueness requires that I give it a higher grade. I could drink a bunch of these. foyle (422) - Wyoming, USA - JUL 21, 2013
Appearance: 1" white head that disappears rapidly leaving faint lacing. Light golden color. Steady bubbling of carbonation throughout the drink.
Aroma: aroma of toasted grains and hop spice
Mouthfeel: watery, refreshing, finish is dry
Flavor: well balanced between hop bitterness and sweet malt. Depending on what I eat with this beer it can taste very sweet or bitter.
Overall: A very fine beer that is flavorful but not overwhelming. fonefan (49305) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 21, 2013
