Redhook Pilsner is brewed in a traditional Czech style and is the first pilsner Redhook Ale Brewery has ever released. Red Hook Pilsner offers a very soft palate and malt flavors that are offset by a medium dose of distinct Czech hops to bring out its authentic flavors. The refreshing beer finishes with a clean, bright, thirst-quenching quality. Red Hook Pilsner pairs nicely with barbecued chicken, bratwurst, spicy food, fresh fish, and green salad. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a nice creamy white fine-bubbled head. Aroma is fruity, malty and slightly yeasty. Lively flavor is malty and yeasty with hints of pear and cloves. Texture is smooth, fizzy and tingly.

12 oz. bottle from the QFC in Wallingford. This carries a fluffy head, and a golden colored body. The is decent, but this doesn’t look special in any way. Aroma of skunk, lightly sweet honey, grain, and a subtle lemon aroma to top it all off. It’s fairly nuanced, and not exceedingly pungent, but pungent enough. Wow, it has a nice subtle skunk, grain, honey, sugar, and lemon flavor to it. It’s, surprisingly, easy to drink. It has a decent texture, but nothing exceptional. It’s very straight-forward. No complaints, other than an off malt flavor that I’m getting. This is pretty good.

12 oz. bottle from the local Publix. Transparent gold appearance. The head faded away rather quickly. It is quite aromatic I must say. Light honey with that great pilsener malt aroma that is just wonderful. Also, I can’t be too sure if it the same hops that Urquell uses, but I am getting that hop (saaz) aroma. Thank God I don’t get that grassy astringent bullshit aroma, as some of the cheaper pilsners tend to produce. A slight grassy bitterness in the flavor, but that sweet honey-ish flavor kicks in. Slightly silky texture, and quite easy to drink. Not bad at all, and quite refreshing after a hard days work.

Mild bready aroma. Bright yellow with a touch of amber with a faint haze. Distinct Czech hops that grab you at first but soon mellows. feels zesty and yet finishes on the creamy side. Mild sourness but does finish clean for the most part. Very drinkable and not heavy feeling.

Redhook Pilsner has a very thin, white head and a somewhat hazy, yellow appearance with some streaming bubbles and essentially no lacing. Aroma is simple- a bit of lemon, cracker, and a dash of hops; taste is basically the same. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Redhook Pilsner finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and mostly dry. Overall, this is a very easy-going beer, and it’s good. RTJ

Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of grass and spice. Taste is lightly sweet slightly caramel malt with a medium bitter spicy hop finish. Surprisingly decent.

Bottle. Clear dark yellow pour, almost no head and a slightly sweet pear aroma. Flavor is light hay, white grapes, pear and slightly sweet on the aftertaste. Not bad.

joeyplush (648) - Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 20, 2010
Clearish gold with a pillowy white head. Aroma is citrusy with notes of sweet malt. Later in the pour I noticed more prominent yeast aromas. Flavor is a bit lemony balanced nicely with sweet malt. Not as good as Sierra Nevada or Brooklyn Summer, but very solid overall - will definitely buy this again.

A solid pils. A Bohemian Pils could use some more hops, but this is good anyway. Lager yeast in the aroma, with moderate hops. Full pilsner flavor, dry and grassy. Gold color. Good.

canary dog (784) - Rutland, Vermont, USA - JUN 30, 2011
Very fizzy and with a big fluffy head. Tastes like a well-made European lager. It does not specifically remind me of a pilsner, since I cannot detect any Saaz or Noble hops. Bland finish is not very well-balanced (at least after the 2nd or 3rd beer), and almost has a stick in your throat, thick cloyingness to it.

Draft at World of Beer. Pours a clear gold color with a short lived foamy white head. Aroma has some classic Czech pils notes to it. Flavor is fairly light but still flavorful with some nice bitterness on the finish.
