From a 12 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear reddish brown with a white head. Hints of pine in the nose. Somewhat thin mouthfeel. Roasted malts forward with a slight bitter finish.

Dark Red color. A nice blend of Caramel, Toffee, Grapefruit Hops and Yeasts make the flavor robust and rich. Body is heavy and moderately carbonated and it doesn’t come off quite as well as one would hope. Overall it’s an excellent winter warmer with a nice flavor

The last of a sixer. I wanted to get familiar with the beer first. The color is a clear chestnut. A small off-white head recedes quickly with islands of lacing, The aroma holds bread and sugar with a touch of apricot. The flavor is malty and earthy. No real noticeable alcohol. Body is medium. Texture is very soft. Low carbonation. This is an easy beer to drink and makes a nice nightcap. I truly enjoy this beer. But I am not sure it is an English strong ale. It seemed like a cross between an amber and a scotch ale.

Pours a reddish-brown with a clinging tan head. The aroma is both hoppy and sweet with notes of pine, grapefruit, and sugar. Medium, smooth palate. Flavor-wise the brew starts sweet and smooth. I would say there's a touch of sugared grapefruit there. The finish is appropriately bitter with some pine notes. Not a bad seasonal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear and somewhat darker amber color with a smallish head. Nose is fairly week, but has some interesting subtle malty notes. Taste actually has a slightly bitter hoppy note to with with some nice malts balancing it out. Not bad.

Appearance was clear root beer with creamy off white diminishing 1 finger head, rings of lace. Aromas are sweet cara, 2-row, caramel malts, hints of citrus, spice and pine. Taste follows the nose with sweet irish-like malts and slight grapefruit, lemon and pine. Palate was soft creamy smooth CO2 with meduim body, average length malty, dryish finish. A little to much like an Irish for me...

Nice hop and malt blend but it doesn’t quite add up right. It needs more of... something. Or less of something. Or something.

camborne (656) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Decent nose. Roasted hop smell and flavor. Agree with other raters that this is kind of watery. Caramel and pine. Definitely better winter brews out there

has a faint hit of roast in the aroma. Taste is a splash of roast malts blended with a bit of pine hops with a slight caramel aftertaste.
