Clear brown/amber. No head. Mild aroma, toffee if any. "Drinkable", I guess. Mild if any hops, slight metallic flavor. Won’t buy next year.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2006 Bottle: Amber color with off-white, thin head and no lace. Floral aroma with hints of citrus and pine. Quite apealing. Wonderful spices, citrus, and pine in the mouth, hops present through out. Finish is a little weak, as was the body, but a pleasent pine flavor lingers. I found this to be a very fine beer, just not a very good example of the style.

Expected more than what I got...but not bad. pale golden color, nice malty flavor. Probably won’t buy again, easy on the spice. I like beer with lots of stuff in one direction or another. Red Hook is all very moderate to light.

The head was thin and didn’t last long. The feel on my palate wasn’t impressive. It has a nice fruity flavor, but it isn’t very strong. It isn’t my favorite winter brew.

Bottle courtesy of beastiefan2k pours deep amber with thin white head. Aroma is upfront malt similar to a scotch ale. First tast is sweet malt then a nice resinous hops presence. Finish is malt. Pretty nice.

Bottle. A clear ruby brown beer with a thin tan head. Combination of caramel, nuts and light bitter chocolate makes for a nice aroma. Strong sour vegetable flavor to start but mellows out to a more well rounded but diluted roasted peanut flavor.

bconger (144) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - MAY 29, 2008
Bottle. Dark copper pour with a very thin head. Hops, caramel, and some yeast on the nose. Hoppy flavor up front with sour lemon and malty elements. This beer lacks backbone. There are nice high notes and the hops are decent, but it feels empty with too little middle-maltiness. Nice carbonation and mouthfeel, though.

heavier and more body than other winter lagers. there is a robust ginger taste that comes with a bite, almost like a pale ale, but darker, if that makes sense
