UPDATED: FEB 8, 2009 BOTTLE: amber/clear color, aroma is light. A little hoppy, with spice tones and slight nut flavor. Just okay.

(Bottle). Pours a dark brownish red color, with a light tan head. Has a malt aroma, and has a sweet malty taste. Finish is slightly bitter, and carbonation is very soft.

Some spices in a sweet malt composition which is drowned by the wet texture to the point that it would be a better beer if it was dryer.

12oz bottle many times. Aroma is caramel and light early hops. Flavor is slight pine and earth hops but fairly sweet. This was a favorite early in my drinking career but I’ve mostly moved on.

Soonah (1120) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUL 8, 2009
Poured a clear, dark copper color with a short lived, off-white head that produced minimal lacing. The aroma was old hops, iced tea, malt and light spices. The flavor was mainly iced tea and caramel malts. Thin mouthfeel with a dry finish. Blah.

12 oz bottle. Very little aroma here--maybe some spices, caramel. Pours almost red with minimal head, mediocre lacing. Tastes nutty, caramelly (not a word? don’t care). A little watery. Bland winter beer.

Poured a dark amber color with a two finger whitish head. Aroma of caramel malt and raisins. Flavor is caramel malt with earth notes and a toffee note.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine Sterling. It pours a deep amber color with a frothy, light tan head. The nose is light and has notes of toasted malt, caramel, and a hint of spice. The flavor leans towards the malt side as expected with a winter brew. Light caramel notes combine with slight florals, fruit, and spice notes. Medium body with medium carbonation and a short to medium finish. Overall rather unremarkable but not offensive either.

Pours a hazy rust-gold with a decent head that persisted. Started promising; the attack was sweet and yeasty. But mid-swallow and into the short finish the beer just ’peters out’ and fails to deliver. Not enough bitterness here, and the malt is rather indistinct. I wanted to like this beer but it lacked follow-through.

Pours a dark amber body with a thin white head. Sweet then dry like some cherry cough medicine, which I just can’t get past.
