Redhook’s twist on the Belgian style is the addition of fresh ginger, which adds a refreshing snappiness to this lighter-bodied wheat beer. Redhook Wit is perfect for warm summer months of outdoor BBQ-ing, sitting by the pool, or just taking a break by hanging inside enjoying the AC and watching old re-runs of Gilligan’s Island.

"Made with ginger but still digs Mary Ann."

Poured from bottle. Smells like orange juice and pancakes. Orange amber with absolutely no head. I taste the wheat and ginger, as well as orange soda notes with maybe a spice or two. I also see that this beer is over a year old. Gotta give this a low rating, will try a fresher sample in future.

hopdog (13315) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 30, 2012
12oz bottle. Poured a yellow, golden color with a small sized head. Subtle aromas of wheat, bananas, and earth. Tastes follow with a trace of spice in the finish.

12oz bottle 6/23/12 (Trader Joe’s Naperville)-48° in Shaker-Pours a cloudy orangish amber with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, and hay. Taste of the same. This light bodied brew is a bit disappointing from Redhook but I wasn’t expecting much either.

TheBeerGod (6294) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - JUN 20, 2012
Bottle. Murky gold with a dissipating white head. Aroma is strong ginger, but not overdone, atop wheat, sweet malt, and candied fruit. Taste is sweet malt, toasted wheat, ginger, candied fruit and soft spice. Body is light-medium with a soft, creamy carbonation. Ends with more ginger notes, hints of honey, candied fruit, light spice, sweet malt, flowers and wheat.

improvjock (328) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 15, 2012
Bottle. Pours an opaque pale yellow with small white head. Aroma of banana bread. Flavor is smooth and sweet. A fairly simple beer, but it tastes good and is easy to drink. It’s not bad at all, but when compared to some of the better Belgian wits out their, it falls a bit short.

bpreo (3043) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Something is just not right with this Belgian Witbier, unfortunately. Still, I can’t help but be charmed by the darling little bottle that all Red Hook beers come in.

Beerdrinker79 (2188) - Idaho, USA - JUN 1, 2012
12 oz. bottle- Pours a nice hazy orangeish yellow with a thin soapy white head, aroma is yeasty and clove, maybe a little pepper, i get ginger too but not sure If I would have picked up on it for the description above. The taste is strong ginger, yeasty, I wish there was less ginger actually, and more lemon or something else. Body is medium, carbonation is medium. I liked this beer, not as good as Blue Moon, but have had worse.

ACHops (1725) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Pours orange and unfiltered, with significant amount of chunky floaties. Slight citrus aroma and huge orange lemon initial taste. Quick hop bite on the finish. Sweet aftertaste. Very refreshing!  I think this is a new style for Redhook, sorta surprised to see them not botch a style like this.

Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - APR 9, 2012
The beer pours a hazy straw color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of wheat and orange peel notes, with some ginger thrown in. The flavor is pretty much the same, with some grainy wheat notes being the dominant flavor. Light, watery mouthfeel and soft, medium carbonation. Overall, the beer is fairly flavorless and doesn’t have anything that stands out and makes you want to have a second one.

troopie (2534) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - MAR 17, 2012
Bottle. Terrible aroma, sweat and wet canvas, aroma took me back to my army days, and sentry duty in the bush. Cloudy body with o head, looks like a fruit juice. Flavour is ginger and water, wit a little hop in the finish. A terrible disappointment from red hook.
