4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours extremely lively, the head settles and stays a little fluffy white sticky covering. Smells of dolly mixtures, pineapple, grapefruit juice and resinous hops. Sweet up front and an amazing smoothness to it. Packed full of tropical fruits as it rolls over your tongue, pineapple, mango, mandarin, then the creeping bitter squeeze at the back which keeps on kicking all the while with that sweet malt backbone there balancing it out. Immensely impressed with this small brewery, my first encounter and wishing I’d swiped the whole range from the shop when I got this. Dubbed the Northern Kernel? Can see why
Cask Half Pint at Craft Beer Co, Clapham, London in March 2014 - Amber Gold in colour. Clear. Moderate head. Good lacing. Very Hoppy; piney resinous hops, good hop bite. Very Fruity; grapefruit citrus, tropical fruits, mango and pineapple. Malty backbone; sweet malts, caramel. Decent hop/fruit/malt balance. Bitter hoppy fruity throughout over sweet malts. Increasingly bitter into the finish. Deceptively easy drinking. Liked this a lot. Nice big IPA! (2014-03-15)

From bottle. The beer pours hazy loaded gold, worth very abundant foam. Actually, my bottle, after opening, has thrown out foam for quote some time, even after pouring some. Aroma is herbaceous. Body is medium. Taste is bitter, with a strong herbaceous and terrain feeling. Sweetness very low. Palate has persistent bitterness, with some stringency and stickiness. Nice, but too bitter for my preferences.Cunningham (7982) - Halden, NORWAY - MAR 7, 2016

At bit to much toffee and a bit grassy to be a favorite in my book. Otherwise quite solid stuff.Garrold (5276) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 2, 2016
Clear golden color with a fine white head. Quite strong aroma. Medium + body and a soft carbonatin. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Oily texture. Tropical, toffee malty, herbal/grassy, grapefruit hoppy and pine in the flavor
[On tap at Piccadilly Tap in Manchester, England]
Bottle. Turner’s, Sheffield. Very hazy gold. Messy, lasting, white head. Sweet, chewy malt, and sweet, chewy hop in equal measure. Notes of pine resin. Walk in the woods dankness. Notes of strawberry and banana. Taste is toffee sweet, turning resinous bitter. Full body. Soft fizz. Hop oiliness. Finishes long, juicy, resinous bitter. Great stuff. (Draught at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 18 Feb 2016) Amber colour with dense, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with orange peel, dried apricots and resin. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, citrus, orange peel, grapefruit, marmalade and a generous citric, resiny bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made DIPA with a generous hop character. Very nice.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2016 Keg tap at CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico. Amber/orange, hazy with a smattering of white head at the top. Muted aroma of pear drop and mango. Bittersweet taste leading to a bitter - albeit still balanced - finish. Long bitter aftertaste. Tropical fruit and spruce in the aftertaste. Competent and certainly enjoyable but less flavour and intensity that the best DIPAs have. fiulijn (20516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 24, 2015

The bottle is a slow gusher; in the glass, hazy red-amber color with large head. The aroma is quite original: fruity (peach, sweet grapes), and lightly funky, yeasty; floral. Some caramel flavor, fruity, strong bitterness, bitter oranges, but also a harsh character in the final, probably some unwanted fermentation in the bottle.
Slightly hazey. Very enjoyable IPA .................................................. daniele (9063) - ITALY - NOV 6, 2015

Bottle at home. Clear orange golden with fizzy cream colored head. Lots of grapefruit and tropical fruits up front, actually the most grapefruit forward IPA I’ve had in a while. Then a long lasting bitter taste with grapefruit peel and spring herbs. Underneath all this a subtle sweet caramel and toast touch, but the hops are almost completely overpowering it. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Yummy!
