COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Occasional;
Born from a conversation between a chocolatier, Lee from Pure Origin Chocolate and ourselves we embarked on creating a chocolate stout. After much enjoyable sampling we decided on a bold and complex 85% cacoa single origin Colombian chocolate which provides a lovely dry balanced bitterness and a long espresso finish, we think it works rather well.

On cask at The Congress, Longton. Pours black with a tan head. Strong chocolate aroma but a very smooth stout. Chocolate, hops. A stout you can enjoy rather than the strong ones you have to fight with!

On cask. Old note. The aroma has chocolate, roasted malts, some dried fruits. Dark coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is light roasty, light bitter, has chocolate. Smoothly carbonated. Pleasant, easy drinking beer. Full of taste for its abv. Very good.

Cask at The Derby Winter Ales Festival, Feb. 17, 2017. Dark brown , almost black. Medium beige head. Intense dark chocolate, vanilla and very mild burnt malts in the aroma. Oily texture, medium to heavy body. Intensely chocolaty start, with coffee and liquorice flowing suit. Turns from moderately smooth to rather bitter in the middle, coffee malts now dominating. Finish is sour sweet oxidized espresso, with the dark chocolate returning in the aftertaste. Most excellent!

Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, dark bread, chocolate truffles and a slightly citric bitterness in a fairly dry finish. Medium body, with a hint of sweetness. Excellent and well balanced stout with a generous chocolatey character. Very nice.

Bottle. Dark mahogany brown/black, no head. Nose is big dark chocolate, cocoa, roast barley, subtle vanilla. Smooth dark chocolate palate, cocoa bitterness, again some mild vanilla, very slight hint of lacto and a slightly coffee finish. Very tasty indeed, great body for the low ABV.
