Bottled 500ml (BZ, BB 04/2012)
Clear amber color, small steady beige head. Sweetish malty, alcoholic aroma with some caramel in it. Medium-bodied. Malty, harsh alcoholic flavor with grassy hoppyness. Lingering alcohol in the aftertaste with some fruity notes. Almost like a heller bock by taste.

Koelschtrinker (18349) - Kln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 29, 2011

Medium amber with a big rocky head and full lacing. Lots of caramel and roasted malt, big mouthfeel, and a clean carbonated bitter finish. Extremely drinkable and refreshing on a cool evening. Well Done!

Grima (2230) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - APR 15, 2011
Into the glass pours a reddish-brown beer with a little foam. Roasty-sweet caramel malt aroma. Starts sweet malty, very roasty, with hints of caramel. The center part is something bitter. The aftertaste shows malty and dry with a delicate caramel note and lots of roasted malts. The finish is again very harsh, the hop is now clearly visible. Good Bockbier!

Comes with a label that has a deer on it adn a wintery scene. 500 ml brown bottle Pours a clear brown, no other way to describe it really, maybe a hint of red. The head is slightly off-white and it leaves some decent lacing. The smell is a bit lacking, mild dark fruit, a hint of malt, nothing much. The taste is better though, it has a nice robustness to it and a great fruity sweetness. There is a decent amount of bitterness as well in the backing. Definitely more of a roasty doppelbock. It is a pretty flavorful beer in the end, I would recommend it Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-22-2010 00:30:58

Draft. Muddled burnt umber but with great thick head. Nice bready aroma. High gravity feel with big body and alcoholic finish. Tastes stark...Dry but malty and spicy, bready and herbal. Is nice.

0.5 l bottle. Copper to amber color. Honeyish, bready, perfumed and solventy aroma. Sweetish, bready, honeyish, solventy and toffeish flavor. Solventy alcohol comes through unpleasantly.

Bottle February in Franconia (2011) Pours clear and amber with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head that never fully dissipates. The bouquet provides apple cider, toffee and toasted malt. Medium-bodied and milky with reserved carbonation. The flavor tilts bitter with a toasty character and a gentle kiss of honey. Bittersweet finish much more bitter than sweet. Thanks go out to erlangernick and Koelschtrinker for making this month of Franconian lagers possible!

Dull light brown. Thin head. The aroma is a bit appley. Fairly strong - lots of kick - with the malts accented to a toast character. Fairly rough, unpolished example.

Sampled on 12/24/2010. The dunkle bock pours a light to medium brown color from a .5L swing top bottle. Large sized white foamy head with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is bready, caramel , fruity and sweet. A medium bodied dunkel. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and herbal. Decent carbonation. A semi-sweet and bready dunkle. Seems a little less sweet and a touch thinner than a dunkle should, but its still very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
