A Mes rate. Bottle at Pigs Ear. Light amber brown with a good off white head and really well conditioned. Smells very much like rye bread from Belgo and I REALLY like that. Superb TCP notes and some equally excellent creamy malt that balances it out really well. The flavour is almost identical but that is far from being a problem. An excellent clean and refreshing finish with a glorious balance of sweet malt and assertive grassy hops. Damn good stuff. crossovert (14006) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 7, 2011
Comes with a label that has a deer on it adn a wintery scene. 500 ml brown bottle rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - MAY 14, 2011
Pours a clear brown, no other way to describe it really, maybe a hint of red. The head is slightly off-white and it leaves some decent lacing.
The smell is a bit lacking, mild dark fruit, a hint of malt, nothing much.
The taste is better though, it has a nice robustness to it and a great fruity sweetness. There is a decent amount of bitterness as well in the backing. Definitely more of a roasty doppelbock.
It is a pretty flavorful beer in the end, I would recommend it

Medium amber with a big rocky head and full lacing. Lots of caramel and roasted malt, big mouthfeel, and a clean carbonated bitter finish. Extremely drinkable and refreshing on a cool evening. Well Done! Moravius (1465) - Berlin, GERMANY - DEC 14, 2013

Bottle (from the Landbierparadies, Nürnberg): Big firm white head, dark amber coloured; sweet dark malts in the nose, a tinge of dried fruit (raisins) and a distinct touch of hops; bitter-sweet flavour; finish begins (dark-)malty, later drier with a moderate aromatic hoppiness; very pleasant, very well balanced and rounded franconian Bock; needed a bigger audience.............. harrisoni (19407) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2008
500ml bottle at Pigs Ear 2008. Attractive chestnut colour with thin beige head. Bready fruity aroma. This is pretty good. Nice fruits, good hop on the finish. Some candy sugar sweetish dark fruits. Superb actually. God thats impressive. Doesnt drink like a lager at all. Carbonation is a bit harsh, but it can soften. MoritzF (10129) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JAN 28, 2008
(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a creamy off-white head of medium size. Light-sweet toast-malty nose with light notes of caramel and herbal, slightly woody hops. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a well-carbonated and well-matured mouthfeel. Solid toast-malty taste with herbal accents early arriving; dryish sweet-bitter finish with distinctive herbal and woody hoppy notes (22.01.08). Bottle best by 24.05.09, but just showed up at the local store: Pours a transparent copper orange with a stringy-lacing froth of white head. Has a sweet caramely nose with some doughy yeasty notes and a hint of light fruits. Starts with good fullness and authentic sweet dark caramely German malts with a mild fruity complexity and a touch of milk chocolate in the finish. An enjoyable and still very drinkable doppelbock, regardless of the date.
