Aromareich, schmackhaft. Test vom 14.11.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche TAR (2776) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Draught at Hütt’n, Nurnberg: Deep rust. Enduring white cap of foam. Charmingly rustic nose of deeply earthy malt, spicy hops (caraway, aniseed), toffee, and subdued esters of hard peach candy. Tightly packed carbonation. Somewhat watery. Flavors unravel with sassy licorice-tinged hops kissed with a stiff mineralic clench and suggestive plumlike fruitiness. Earthy malt pushes forth with a dainty balancing bitterness reminiscent of fallen leaves, bread crust, and unsweetened chocolate. Plum teeters on the verge of becoming medicinal and overripe in its sweetness, though a drying flash of cocoa disperses much of this. While the malt is not particularly deep, it is exceptionally clean, with primary emphasis on the vividly defined earthiness. Even an intriguing note of chocolate wafer teases from the depths. Closes with background toffee-covered chocolate and a dry malt edge which is accentuated by a tardy emergence of slick, ripe peach fused with a cleansing grassy, anise-tinged hop bitterness. This is a superbly clean, quaffable lager with exemplary malt extraction. Could happily drink this stuff all day. EAGLE82 (235) - Röslau, Bavaria, GERMANY - MAR 31, 2015
Very nice Dunkel. Mid dark color, sweet chocolaty aroma and a balanced smooth taste. shrubber85 (11506) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAY 17, 2005
Bottle. Chocolate malt aroma. Medium amber color with small head. Balanced sweetness and bitter chocolate malt flavor. Medium body. An interesting mixture of a dunkel and a landbier.

Clear, but dark-amber beer, with orange highlights; smaller off-white head, fast gone. Earthy & leafy notes, dark malts; "Loden" (felt) aroma, bit meaty even. Expressly dark malts taste, chocolate, even roasted coffee; bitterish finish with a good hops component. Jez says toffee, but only the roasted, bitter flavour half, not the sweet-sugary. Very unexpectedly thin, nearly watery palate, as if all the above is just flavour dissolved in water (great! - that’s the definition of beer). I would have expected more palate from such a beer, certainly at 5.5% ABV. Palate is seriously lacking, and therefore unbalances the whole. 50cl bottle from Germany. Dark amber with a fine off-white head. Dark bread, caramel and a little peach on the nose, the palate brings spice, toffee, a little treacle, some dark fruit, grassy hops and then a dry bitter finish with hints of roast coffee. Very nice. cubs (10651) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Bottle @ Mega Bavarian Beer Tasting in Schlitz. Clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasty grainy, caramel malty, a bit grassy, a touch fruity aroma. Tangy, light fruity, a bit citrusy, toasty, lightly nutty flavor. Not bad. rauchbier (3907) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2004
Bottle, from Vroni’s in Bamberg. Amber bronze, moderate white head and moderate condition. Gentle sweet toffee and malt aromas with a vaguely spirity alcohol note. Sweet malt with a touch more toffee in the nose and a low gentle hoppiness. Toffee dominated finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Clear amber golden with a dense, off-white head leaving laces. Clean, malty and very German aroma. Medium-bodied, solid and clean malt base with a whiff of flowery hops. Dry finish. 050608
