Clear pale straw that forms a fizzy white blanket that quickly dissipates to a ring of fine bubbles. Aroma of noble hops and crisp malt, soda crackers, and a little skunk. Flavour is a sharp blast of malt with some noble hops flavour and an unpleasant bitterness that might not be from hops-sort of like tea, but not astringent...Chinese tea. Some soda cracker flavour comes through also. Light body with good carbonation. I think that this just might not be a style for me, or the bottle wasn’t stored properly, since the reviews indicate that this is a better beer. Geiserich (4622) - Linz, AUSTRIA - FEB 23, 2005

Aroma has light notes of apples and grain. Pale yellow color. Taste is light, hoppy, quite grainy, fruity, apple notes. Dry, light bitter finish. Quite o.k. Kölsch.
Light and airy, almost spring-flowery aroma, with some touches of honey, but it is barely there. Pale yellow without a head. The flavor is very ashy and full of a mineral taste and as notalush points out, herbal. I’m not that familiar with this type of beer, but this isn’t too bad. Gentle hop finish. notalush (5922) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - FEB 20, 2005
Perfectly clear golden color with minimal head and lacing - fresh hop aroma with light touches of grain - very crisp, clean, light and refreshing, but not watery at all - slight grassy, herbal qualities, with a tiny bit of hops - very subtle sweetness and a surprising vinous quality that works for some reason - totally clean finish - quite nice, great for warmer weather. A golden, fruity beer...got some wine-feeling with this one, and that’s not bad at all. Sweet/sour taste, fresh and clean. Hops are there, but they’re hidden far back...

Light Straw colored with a tight white head.Aroma-Subtle malt with some spice(hops?).The taste is grainy maltiness but no sweetness with balanced hops. RAYBOY01 (2010) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 16, 2005
Pale golden, low hop, lager-like ale. Creamy texture and smooth finish. Great ale to introduce to lager-only drinkers. kane (111) - USA - JAN 13, 2005
This is a very good example of a Kolsch. I can only think of Goose Island as being comparable to the ones I have tried. Crisp, dry, light grassy hop taste. Light golden color whit a steady dense white head. Very enjoyable. GuilTTy (2264) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - JAN 6, 2005
Clear drawn butter golden color under a tall white head with average lacing. Mildly sweet aroma of melons & banana muffin. More substance to the mouthfeel than I anticipated. Mostly sweet flavors which followed the aroma pretty closely but with the tiniest bite of hops in the finish. I’m not going to run out for more but I’d gladly drink one on a hot day - speaking of which - this beer definately tastes better at colder temps. wnhay (722) - Princeton, New Jersey, USA - JAN 4, 2005
This beer was too weak for me. If I were looking for a lite beer I would not have had a problem with this. However I did not know that, so it was dissapointing. I thought wow a German beer it has to be good. It was not my thing though. Very little taste to speak of. It is like a good version of Miller Lite essentially.
