3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2010 New rating: 2/24/2010: My first rating was #133, back in 2003. Now that I know a little more about Kölsch, time for a re-rate: Sweet malt smell in pour, not much hops to it, just lighter than pilsener. Pale gold color, just a few bubbles twinkle along the glass. Light taste. Kind of saccharine, but that’s what I’ve been finding in my Goose Summertime too. Maybe this summer style just doesn’t age too well. Not much in the way of hops, though there is a slightly fruity ester. This may have gone down better on my back porch in the summer, instead of in my basement after another snowfall. But I just seem to like this less the second time around.
Original rating, 11/11/03: 6-3-7-3-13:
Bottled. Malty, with a kind of raw grainy texture to it. A pleasing extra kick of hops.
Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Grainy nose, lots of fields of grain. Clean and crisp, faint sweetness. Light hops on the finish. What a Kölsch should be. Very enjoyable. Piepenhenrich (1171) - Steinbach, GERMANY - OCT 7, 2017
Being brought up on Altbier it's hard to be objective on Kölsch. Among the Kölsch I had, I find Reissdorf to be among the best. ads135 (4923) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - OCT 2, 2017
A really nice Kolsch, though not the best of the varieties I tried on my visit to Cologne. Light a crisp, hay and grass. Mild, bright bitterness. zackbeer (1) - Los Angeles, Alabama, USA - SEP 20, 2017 does not count
Must have old beer. Really skunky. Was in cologne, drink the local brew. Very skunk. Old. MarcoDL (5310) - NETHERLANDS - SEP 3, 2017
Draft. Golden pour. Aroma and taste of grainy malt, fresh bitters, herbs and a bitter grassy . Typical, but nice.

Bottle in Seattle. White fluffy head, bright clear gold body. Aroma of cardboard and grass, some sweet bready yeast as well. Intriguing mix of flavors on body, remains quite dry throughout with honey and cardboard notes. Dry grass, golden character, some fruits and light ester. Dry bitter finish, with some banana to boot. 0,33 l Flasche aus real Getränkemarkt in Köln Deutz. Orangegold klar mit klener, schnell abfallender Schaumkrone. In der Nase intensiv modrig, Brot, Teig. Im Geschmack ähnlich, eher mild herber Abgang tonyferrari (33) - North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - AUG 12, 2017
Served on tap. Crystal clear straw-golden colour. Thick lasting white foam. Slightly herbal tending towards citrusy aroma. Slightly malty smooth flavour well balanced by the low-bitterness. The low body, the low carbonation and the 4.8% Abv make it a refreshing beer. A milestone in the kölsch panorama in Cologne. angel77 (3738) - oviedo, SPAIN - AUG 5, 2017
