Bottled (from K Citymarket Kivihaka, Vaasa). More or less black colour, with a huge brown head (bottle was a bit lively when opening). Aroma is caramel malts, mild ripe fruits, some rather toasted notes along with some tar. Flavour is roasted malts, ashes, some tar as well as some mild bitterness to it. Tasty and quite bodied beer for this abv amount. rosenbergh (12021) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 19, 2014
Draught at the Villi Wäinö, Helsinki, Finland.
Pitch black colour with a small light brown head.
Mild roasted malt, sweetness, chocolate and dry grain in the aroma.
The flavour is dry roasted malt, mild hoppy bitterness, mild ashiness and grain. Nice dry stout. Quite rich for a 4.5% stout.

Tap at Villi Waino, Helsinki. Colour is black with small slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Tar, smoke and sweetness. Quite strong body for this ABV but one-dimensional. Hermod (8619) - Vantaa, FINLAND - JAN 14, 2014
Tap @ villi wäinö. Deep brown, thin brown head. Smoky aroma, tar, roastedness, slight artificisl feel to it. Flavor is similar with tar really present. Tervapastilli candy. Thin body. Higher abv and this could be really tasty.

Aroma is oaty with some tar notes, hay and coffee. Almost no carbonation. Flavour has tar, licorice and some coffee. Nice, but could work better with higher ABV.
50 cl bottle @ home as ”Rekolan Ruukin Terva”
Nice tar-fulfilled aroma with licorice. Flavour has English toffee, some tar, licorice and hints of ash. Nice, but a bit watery. Also the English aromas do not fit here completely.
(Keg at Black Door, 2013122) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had tar, smoke and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were smoke, tar, sweetness, ash, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky, ashy and bitter. A balanced but a bit too burnt brew. jookos (7202) - FINLAND - DEC 19, 2013

Black. Dark roasty, sweet tarry, nose. Medium bodied, quite clean, easily drunk. This is pretty good. Has a bit of almost artificially too-nice tar flavour (like the finnish "terva shotti"), Relatively light overall, but really flavourful for the abv. And with the dark good roasty flavours hiding the minor complaints I usually have with the beers produced by the setup these guys have, this might be their most approachable beer yet.
Rerate, bottle (as ’Ruukin terva’): Much dryer, breadyer porter flavours. Can’t find much tar anymore, which is a shame, but I’m still keeping the original score.
