Bottle courtesy of argoO at Dc tasting. Black-brown body, beige head. Big brown chocolate tastes. Mossy chocolate, a load of peat. Very English/Scottish feel. Perfect clean mouthfeel. Rich crystal malt, but oh so sessionable. punkska101 (2080) - Chambly, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 10, 2013

Sample at the 5th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 01/26/2013: Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Light body with flavors of sweet chocolate, soy sauce and malt. The finish is sweet with a short chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall. thorongil2 (3165) - , Ontario, CANADA - JAN 29, 2013
(bottle) clear very dark brown with a small brown head; aromas of coffee, soy sauce, raisin; dry intense flavour Boutip (6397) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 25, 2013
Bottle: Poured a light black color stout with a large light brown foamy head with average retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of light black chocolate notes with some bitter roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix between medium black chocolate notes with light bitter roasted malt notes with a light touch of coffee in the aftertaste. Body is too light with not enough of a creamy texture but with some very good carbonation. Not bad overall but I would think that a fuller body would improve the drinking experience.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with a medium light brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium toasted sweet chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. Sweet drinkable brew.

Great beer, really well done. It is what it says it is a chocolate beer and those flavours come through in buckets on a background of smooth toasty well balanced grains. The kind of stout you could imagine making into a pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle. But it was just as awesome by itself! probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 25, 2012
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a chalice. 29OC12.cyrenaica (1143) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 18, 2012
App.: Deep brown-black with a tan rim.
Aroma: So much rich chocolate, cold hot chocolate, vanilla, very inviting, dark chocolate notes, a little black coffee, beautiful and dark.
Palate: Medium-full body, soft, silky effervescence.
Flav.: Tons of beautiful dark chocolate, so rich, light vanilla notes, milk chocolate, lovely; dry with decent bitterness and a slightly less than ideal body, good chocolate and a touch of dark chocolate.
Other than a slightly weak finish, lovely.

The beer a solid black colour with brown edges, and no head, despite a vigourous pour. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium-full with medium carbonation. Flavour is definite roast with hints of chocolate and caramel. Easy drinking, but not outstanding.
Not too sure what to make of this. I’ve had two in a row now that have been soo over carbonated I can’t really enjoy it. Pours sexy, dark like motor oil, ridiculous head on this thing due to all the carbonation. The aroma is cocoa. . . That’s it. The flavor is cocoa and a weird tang in the finish, the tang plus the insane carbonation leads me to think maybe there some bacteria other than yeast may be at work here.
