Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Bittersweet chocolate and roast. Deep jet brown with a decent light brown head. Bittersweet chocolate and roast with a long light bitter coffee finish. Rich and decent. bhensonb (15624) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 9, 2013
Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours very dark brown with a foamy 3 finger frothy light tan head. Nice aroma of dark milk chocolate with a hop hit. Med body - less as froth goes. Not the best impression there. The flavor is now bitter chocolate - there seems to be a lot of hop in here. Touch of coffee. I’m not sure this works all that well. Lots of flavor - but harsh - and hoppy chocolate? It is growing on me. Seeing it finishing dry, bitter and chocolate. Ok. I’m convinced. Tmoney99 (14866) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with a medium light brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium toasted sweet chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. Sweet drinkable brew.

Sample at the 5th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 01/26/2013: Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Light body with flavors of sweet chocolate, soy sauce and malt. The finish is sweet with a short chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall. Big chocolate and roast aroma. This is a dry stout, with cocoa, and fine for a porter. Slightly above average mouthfeel, though dry finish. Dark chocolate looks with lots of lace. Drinkable, likely better with dessert. DocLock (10973) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 7, 2013
Bottle from Smith’s. Pours hazy dark brownish black with a finger of loud brown head and a gusher upon opening. The head is like pouring a Diet Coke, and says to me as I lean in to hear it in an homage to Fred Eckhardt, "Bring me the precious!" Whatever. Nose is assertive hops, dark malt, roasty cacao, blackberry. Tastes dry, roasty dark malty, like a dry stout, with lively carbonation and a heavy and complex palate without being the slightest bit cloying, and a big hop finish, and blackberry notes. This one is great. gnoff (10859) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 26, 2013
Draught at Beer DeLuxe, Melbourne, on July 30, 2013.
I’m guessing it was the 2012, it stated 4.9% ABV anyhow.
$10 for a small pour, not cheap.
Black color with hints of dark brown, brown head. Cocoa, chocolate, smooth, a bit sweet taste. Chocolate, cocoa aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium dry bitterness. Dark chocolate scent.
