Great beer, really well done. It is what it says it is a chocolate beer and those flavours come through in buckets on a background of smooth toasty well balanced grains. The kind of stout you could imagine making into a pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle. But it was just as awesome by itself! joeymcdonald (11) - - NOV 11, 2012
Absolutely delicious. Smooth mouthfeel although vaguely thin - with the flavour almost wish was more thick and creamy. Delicious nose and amazing chocolate and oatmeal flavours. Silky and smooth. Easy-drinking. Nothing harsh. Excellent balance.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2015 liquid dark chocolate beer, amazing taste, smell the chocolate from the minute you open the bottle. Many others have tried the chocolate beer before, this one succeeds where all others have failed.
Had it a 2nd time, this batch was not nearly as flavorsome and was over carbonated.

Pours black with a tan head.
Nose shows chocolate, oatmeal, raosted malt, tiramisu, cocoa. Great.
Similar flavours, very tiramisu-like. coffee, cocoa, sweet oat/biscuity notes. Finishes with some dry roasted malt.
Could use a thicker body.
Pretty awesome. pmuzz (400) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 3, 2012
Wow i was surprised! This was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a smooth drinking, delicious beer. Agree with maneliquor, it is green ATM but will age really well.

A - Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a finger of thick frothy chocolate colored head. The head fades down very slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of roasted bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, coffee, oats, and a bit of dark fruits.
T - Starts off with some roasted bittersweet chocolate with a bit of vanilla and dark fruit sweetness. Through the middle, some roasted coffee flavor comes through alongside some oats. The finish is a mix of roasted cocoa and coffee with a bit of vanilla and dark fruit.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels super smooth with a sweet and chocolate finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really great chocolate oatmeal stout. The flavors are really nicely balanced with great body and mouthfeel. Brenhophead (695) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 22, 2013
500mL bottle (6.5% abv). Pours black with a mocha head and the best milk chocolate aroma i have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a beer. Wonderful chocolate flavour with a hint of coffee. It takes me back to early easter morning, drinking coffee after i had just gotten up and have chocolate eggs for breakfast. A truly wonderful beer. As dark as it comes with a touch of ruby notes in the dimple of the glass and a head that is mocha in colour and, while leaving good lace, sits mainly as a film on top of the pint. Aromas very definitely of chocolate and cocoa, coffee grinds and all the sorts of things I love in a pint of stout. Definite cocoa in the flavour. Powdered and similar to a sprinkle of drinking chocolate on top of cold milk, a throwback to my childhood a recherche du temps perdue. So much to love. I like this a lot and would like to see similar stouts on the NZ market in future. kevinsenn (2180) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 27, 2012
Bottle from LCBO. Pours thick black with a half-inch brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted barley, and some licorice. Smooth taste, which quickly turns into intensely bitter chocolate. Has a dry roasty bitter finish. Nice thick and smooth body. Very good. DocLock (10647) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 7, 2013
Bottle from Smith’s. Pours hazy dark brownish black with a finger of loud brown head and a gusher upon opening. The head is like pouring a Diet Coke, and says to me as I lean in to hear it in an homage to Fred Eckhardt, "Bring me the precious!" Whatever. Nose is assertive hops, dark malt, roasty cacao, blackberry. Tastes dry, roasty dark malty, like a dry stout, with lively carbonation and a heavy and complex palate without being the slightest bit cloying, and a big hop finish, and blackberry notes. This one is great.
