(bottle) clear reddish brown colour colour with a small brown head; faint aroma of brown sugar, dried fruit; mostly dry, light flavour with a long light bitter finish; not that interesting

Radek Kliber (7352) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUL 9, 2014
Where and how: bottle 500 ml LC B and O
Aroma sweetness upon Belgian yeast influence, softens around, sugars and semi dry alcohol
Appearance :
Top: mid lasting off white cap.
Base: clear amber with hint of fresh copper.
Palate : medium full bodied, lighter carbonation, semi oily softer finish.
Taste: silky smooth with raisin sugary hints on walls, some alcohol heat but not heavy, tannins , red apple skin with bittering hops.
Other notes another unusual brew. Kudos to brew masters !

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 30, 2014
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep, clear mahogany with a thin tan head. Aroma: Rich maltiness, sweet and sticky, boozy, some dark dried fruits, Belgian yeast character, a certain darker, more stern side (almost black pepper?), molasses and dark treacle. Palate: Medium+ body with quite full, elegant effervescence. Flav.: Lots of brown sugar, treacle, molasses, some dark dried fruit character, quite malty, Belgian esters to a lesser extent, vanilla?, quite rich, unctuous and lovely (if boozy); sweet with fairly low bitterness, some booze and a long, richly malty finish.

May be a touch thin, if I’m picky. Nice flavours though.

Spab (3834) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2014
500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a lightly cloudy rubyish amber with modest-sized cream-coloured head. Raisin comes through in the aroma as well as candy sugar, caramel, plum and a light spicy note. Flavour is very sweet with candy sugar, caramel, raisin and other dark fruit and a gentle spiciness. Mouthfeel is a little syrupy. Different, but decent.

Helsdon (383) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 22, 2014
Clear brown, and a crazy bunch of light tan head on the pour. Nose of malts and fruits, but I suspect that head blocked a lot, even after I’ve waited as long as I can (delayed reward? bah! humbug!) The taste is fruit, scotch, raisin, vanilla, caramel malts. Lots going on here. I like it, but I can see how some people might not.

Bottle from the LCBO Not much aroma at all a little like grape juice It was ok but the taste was too much like grape juice for my liking

Alpha10 (755) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 18, 2014
2014/06/18 - Pours a hazy dark amber colour with a small, creamy, khaki head that quickly reduces to a lasting surface film. Aroma is raisins, dark fruits, caramel, candied sugar, spices, Belgian yeast and a hint of buttery rum. Tate is similar to nose; moderately sweet dark fruits, candied sugar, spices, toasted malts and a hint of booze. 500 mL bottle. Pours red tinged mahogany with a cap of beige foam. Medium mouthfeel with smooth carbonation and a drying finish. Ok. With so many great strong Belgian style beers out there available for a comparable price, I doubt I will revisit this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 13, 2014
500 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours clear ruby-amber with a small tan head that fades quickly to a thin remnant and leaves a trace of lace. The nose has big notes of caramel, toffee, figs and grapes with flowers, spices and a touch of earth. The flavour is medium sweet with candi sugar, toffee and raisins. Floral notes and subtle spice come through from the nose as well. The finish is medium in length, with toffee, big raisins and a touch of flowers. On the palate it is light-medium in body, with a slightly syrupy texture and very soft carbonation. Overall, a nice Belgian style ale brewed with raisins. It is much lighter than I expected. The raisins add a nice touch of complexity, but I feel it would have been more impressive with a fuller body or perhaps with a bit more carbonation. 2014-06-13

shaynsawchuk (681) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 9, 2014
500 mL bottle. Pours red tinged mahogany with a cap of beige foam. Raisin, candi sugar, baking spices and buttered rum on the nose. Faintly sweet with a hint of bitterness and a touch of alcohol. Surprisingly light, moderate bodied with average carbonation. Not bad, not great.

robinvboyer (4656) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2014
basement aromas, the aroma is an intense dark sweet sugary mess. Notes of raisins, sherry, candied cherries, and quite alot of candi sugar. The mouth feel is fine, and the carb is a tad low. Thw finish is low on the bitterness scale, with a mineral sweet raisin and dark candied plum blast. Quite interesting.
