COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the big, hearty red wine of our range. Nine malts are blended to produce layers of caramel, coffee, liquorice, chocolate and roasty flavours and these are balanced by a tart, raisiny fruitiness that gradually gives way to a lingering dry finish. Rich, full bodied. warming and moreish. Stonecutter pairs well with venison, roast beef or lamb, or the heartiest casseroles and stews. For dessert try with a creme brulee or, of course, Scottish shortbread.

Draught @ Cafe Derat. Dark amber cookout, beige creamy head. Tard, maybe even cherry nose. Taste has roasted malts at first, a bit smokey, bitter, gets Brett-y funky in the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet grassy, weeds, sugar, slightly smoked caramel malts, bark, raisins, sap, minerals. Taste is slightly sweet grassy, weeds, sap, burnt caramel, grass, bark, minerals, slightly smoked caramel malts, raisins, paper, cardboard. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh and watery mouthfeel. Not really my cup of tea.

Bottle. Pours a deep red-hued clear brown body with a medium off-white head. Nose is raisins, nuts, prunes, caramel and hints of walnuts, deep malty notes and brown bread. Taste is caramel, raisins, smoke, brown bread and hints of nougat, nuts and prunes. Full body, medium carbonation. Lovely, tasty and classic scotch ale from Renaissance, well done.

Bottle. Clear dark chestnut color with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is nice and rich, with pear smoke, ham sandwich, toffee, vanilla, and chocolate. The flavor is dry and smoky, only mild caramel and toffee sweetness. Surprisingly drinkable considering, with a good active carb level. Really interesting and tasty.

Poured from a pint bottle. Pours a deep brownish red toffee colour. Aroma is big on malts but isnt overpowering. Toffee, toast, caramel, scotch, wood. Taste is big sweet right from the start that carries through the middle with light unami joining in the middle and a medium bitter finish. A light alcohol kick comes with the bitter. Palate is a bit light for a scotch ale and not as oily as I usually enjoy. Carbonation is medium and pleasant. A decent well made and balanced drop, well suited to those starting out in the world of scotch ales and other stronger beers; but not enough kick or booze for my taste in that world.

500 ml bottle. Pours a ruby reddish brown with a resilient beige head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, grape, bubble gum. Flavor is burnt caramel, brown sugar, black licorice and ash. Finish is dark grape, light tartness, red and black cherry. Lingering earth and fruit. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Solid!

500ml bottle BB Jan 2017 Spicy clove malty nose. Poured chestnut brown with creamy head. Sweet slightly cloying upfront with strong cloves aftertaste. Also got a slight oxidized cardboard note which is odd give BB is Jan 2017 A good beer to have with desert or with some oat cookies/cakes by the fire.
