This beer is (alongside the 2012 MPA) one of renaissance best. It was lovely and balanced, with the chewy malt to it. A really nice British barley wine. I thoroughly enjoyed the full flavours and the gentle ETOH presence. What a winner! Jimthechap (2064) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 11, 2012
Nutty to tawny brown in colour with a short lived creamy latte coloured head. Readily apparent sultana and crusty bread aromas, then maple, treacle and syrupy aromas. Spice notes of allspice bring a christmas cake quality to this beer. All those flavours plus some good stewed stonefruit and caramel come through upon tasting. There’s also good tingly carbonation. It fills the mouth and then spreads that sticky date pudding flavour. I love a good barley wine and this is a good barley wine. To the extent that I have laid a couple of bottles down to see how it develops. Glorious. skortila (5801) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - JAN 10, 2013
Bottled. Got this beer from Andy when visiting the brewery somewhere after Christmas 2011. As promised, me and my wife waited a year to open it. :-) Great beer. Very full malt fruity aroma. Dark red coloured beer with a slight off-white head. The taste is initially sugary sweet, with raisin, port, molasses. Moderate bitterness evolves towards the finish. Nice, well-balanced barley wine. A stunning beer, Lots of tastes, I got cherry, strawberry, and enjoyed the chocolate from the roastings. Lots of body ,lots of length.
slightly y cloudy pour and a deep rich colour.
Not for quaffing, but to finish your evening and enjoy something with a strong enough taste to stand up to it.

Bottle 33 cl, Slowbeer. Pours beautiful clear ruby amber with a small rim of beige head leaving smalll laces on the glass. Aroma is very rich; sweet, raisins, fidges, malty, orange peelings and bready. Flavor is velvety fullbodied; raisins, sweet, madeira wine, perfectly pungent and bitter, a bit fruity and has a touch of caramel somewhere behind. Finishes first sweet turning into bitter dryish aftertaste. Excellent stuff.

A good Barley Wine that will surely improve with a bit of bottle age. The well balanced sweetness hides the massive alcohol well. gam (3909) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 22, 2013

Bottle. Love the colour, a rich dark brown that just speaks class. The nose is a bit sugary, but in the mouth there is a toastiness and nuttiness that works with the sweetness, and a earthy hoppiness that balances it perfectly. The finish is nice and dry that leaves me wondering what happened to all that alcohol? Dangerous :) joergen (27983) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 27, 2012
