Aus der Flasche im 2017-11 getrunken. Sehr gut balanciertes Sweet Barley Wine mit einer tollen Sauerteignote. Süffig und lecker!

2013 bottle. Reddish-brown color with no head. Aroma is raisins, prunes, chocolate, molasses. Taste is raisins, prunes, plums, rich caramel, boozy warming finish. Oily mouthfeel with low-ish carbonation. Nice Barleywine!

330 ML bottle
2013 bottle

Murky brown color. Hints of ruby. No head at all, some gurgles of bubbles but that is it.
Nose has notes of oxidation, dark fruit, date, fig and brown sugar.
taste is pretty much the same as the nose. Oxidation is a bit less but present.
Jammy and a touch sweet. Not really carbonated well. More carbonation would lift this a bit more and not as sticky sweet.

Maris (1596) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - AUG 14, 2017
From a 330ml bottle (2013 vintage, abv 11.3%) on 14/8/2017. Pours a deep amber with no head. Has a lovely nose featuring caramel, butterscotch, toffee, fruit cake. The flavour is complex and intense, featuring all of the aforementioned, along with masses of raw sugar and golden syrup, with some nuttiness in the mix. The texture is syrupy and my bottle seemed under-carbed. I’m a little torn with this one, as it’s flawed, yet quite magnificent in some respects. Defintely worth a try if you into bold dessert beers.

Scopey (15879) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2017
Bottle shared at Six Deg N event. It pours clear rich red brown with a small white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, leather, toffee, dried fruit, honeycomb and toffee crisp. The taste is slick, bitter - sweet, oily, toffee, candy, toasted brown sugars, chewy, slick, dried fruits and some warming booze with a slick finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Rich and filthy. Good fun.

Eructoblaster (4412) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 14, 2017
Bottle - 330ml (2013). Cloudy copper body with a thin, white foamy head. Rich, complex, well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with fruity, caramel, and crème brûlée hints. Alcohol is not overwhelming. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries maple syrup, woody, and biscuity notes. Ends with a warming, bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable!

jvhemert (438) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 18, 2015
Aroma: caramel, alcohol (much of it), malts, peach
Taste: light sweet, light bitter
Appearance: ruby, no head
Palate: full body, sticky, soft carbonation, long finish,
Overall: strong quadruple, bit too strong on the alchohol.

Very hazy deep amber beer, thin cream colour head. Nose of toffee and dried fruits. Palate is light and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Little tangy toffee - caramel. A mild touch of paper - oxidisation. Little dried fruits. Light finish. A shade of JW Lees Harvest Ale here but it’s not as good as that beer.
