Designed first and foremost to be served on beer engines and in the future as a cask or bottle conditioned ale, this beer is inspired by the boldly hoppy Ales of old that were exported from Britain to the furthest corners of her vast and glorious empire, Voyager I.P.A. is a rich satisfying Ale with an emphatic hop bite.

It is brewed with pale ale malt from Canterbury, and small additions of European specialty malts to yield a malt base on which to build its hop edifice.

We generously hop it with two Kiwi hop varieties for bitterness then finish it with Fuggles (as a nod to I.P.A.s British origin) and New Zealand bred Riwaka hops for a spicy floral finish.

Ive had this on the hand pull, where it made a lovely smooth summer afternoon ale, now trying it with carbonation, from the 500ml bottle. Pours rich brown with a full head, from which the predominant aroma are the Riwaka hops. Full and bitter in the mouth, but with a lovely smoothness from a nicely balanced malt. The sprucey notes of the New Zealand hops is probably a bit too overpowering, especially on the after-taste. Its a typically New Zealand IPA, which is fine, but not quite capturing the British heritage I think they mayve been going for. That aside, this is a lovely sprightly drop.

Bottle from Crafty Bottle, Lincoln. This was a lively one, Hazy amber colour big foamy head. Aroma yeasty and caramel, tobacco, and black tea, not a hoppy IPA. Taste yeasty, sweet, ok but not what i expected.

500ml bottle pours a yellow amber color with a bit of head. Mild hop flavors. Homebrew yeastiness dominates.

330ml bottle. Crystal clear, orangey amber colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimalyl lacing, white head. Slightly bready, aramel malty aroma, weak floral and grassy-spicy hoppy overtones. Taste is minimally bready, caramel and pale malty, floral, grassy, bitter hoppy overtones, subtle sweetness, a cautious touch of tangerine. If I had to name beers that should be dished up as prototypical examples in a style category at a newbie tasting this could show up as English Pale Ale.

On tap at Captains Daughter, Havelock. Clear golden beer with creamy thin head. Distant hop nose. Earthy fruity hop taste, finish follows taste. Tasty quaffer.

Vastly overrated and quite disappointing. This was a bland and bitter beer with no individually identifiable hop aromas and the taste went straight to a bitter throat-clearing aftertaste

Pours light amber, bitt of foam. Aroma is softly hoppy, malt base is clear in the background, providing also some sweetness. Taste is also mildly hoppy, not really a hop bomb but has still some tingle going on. Malt caramel is abundant, and finish has some more dry hop bitterness lingering for a while. Better than I expected from a cheap COSTCO beer actually.

500 ml bottle from the Party Source at home. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale toasted malts, caramel, earthy and floral hops, mild bitterness, hops seem faded and not sure of the age of the bottle, would be better fresh but I probably wouldnt buy this again to find out.
