Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish almost black pour with thin tan colored head, very dark for the style. Aroma brought notes of big figs, dark fruits, some slight esters with a touch of white fruit coming i, but mainly dark fruits with rich toffee and molasses as well. Taste is a bit on the sweet side but very interesting, notes of caramel, toffee, nice plum and raisin notes, hints of slight white fruits, finishing fairly sweet. COuld have used a bit more bitter, but overall a tasty brew. Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Poured a deep mahogany with a small off-white head from the tap at the brewery. Smells of caramel, espresso, chocolate, and raisin. Very coffee-like and a touch of cocoa and smoke, with a banana aftertaste. Very interesting yeast strand. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Tap @ Renegade. Deep brown appearance with a tan head that dissipates pretty quickly. Black licorice, cocoa, candy sugar, mild espresso in the nose. Pretty rich, sweet flavor but it’s balanced nicely. Dark chocolate, mild anise, caramel flavor. Not bad. notalush (5875) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 29, 2012
Tap at Renegade - mostly black pour - nose of chocolate, fig, anise, plum, tobacco, spice - smooth and medium bodied - a bit too light and drinkable for the abv - flavors of plum, tamarind, chocolate, light spice, tobacco leaf - finish of cocoa and overripe fruit - tastes a bit like a slight variation of their Radiator with a Belgian yeast - pretty decent brew. onceblind (9662) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Very dark ruby-brown with a nice foamy light tan head. Nice belgianesque aroma of earthy toffee, cherry, banana/bubblegum yeast, and prune with just a kiss of cocoa. Taste was nice and warm while pleasantly fruity (dark). Starts sweet and malty with toffee tones and gentle earthiness, combined with cherries, raisins, warm gentle spices, more sweetness kinda like brown sugar, with not much bitterness...but not cloying. Pretty Belgian, but has an uncomfortable feeling of "American Belgian"...hard to describe.

On tap at Renegade poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roastiness, licorice, light yeast and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, roastiness, carmel, light fruittiness and light yeast with a smooth lingering toffee finish.
