Powertrip (1000) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 7, 2012
Single bottle purchased from Enotica Wine & Spirits in Calgary, AB on 09/07/2012. Colour: Deep dark borwn with brown high rising but quickly vanishing head. Nose: Heaps and heaps of malt mixed with a witches brew of spices including the advertised cocoa, cinnamon but also a touch of cayenne. Swirling brings out a note of cola and increases the presence of cinnamon. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, light sour. Wow I expected the fat malt and cocoa to make this a sweet treat but it remains very tempered which allows the herbal presence to stand out and the true complexity of the malt to really be dissected. Chewy, complex and heavy - decent enough. patricks110 (2668) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 5, 2012
actually quite impressed by this one. An appetizing body coloured purely opaque brown with a light beige head that looks rather soapy. The nose has a beautiful roasted but not overblown malt character. Find notes of dark and milk chocolate as well as the vanilla and a light spiced note...not exactly cinnamon. The first is sweet and mildly bodied for the style. Notes of chocolate and cinnamon come across subtly with vanilla almost not at all. An overall good imperial brown with mild flavorings. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 5, 2012

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a very dark brown color - almost black with nutty highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was vanilla, Dr Pepper, nut and cinnamon toast. The flavor was nutty cocoa, licorice, cola, strong vanilla and faint cinnamon toast. Very long finish of vanilla, cola and cinnamon toast. Moderately full bodied. Odd but interesting. drowland (9074) - Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2012
9/1/12. 22oz bomber from Grassroots. Muddy brown pour with a nice tan head that sticks and laces in spotty sheets. Big chocolate in the aroma with bits of roasted malts and nuts on top of a touch of vanilla sweetness. Sweet chocolate and vanilla in the flavor with a bit of hop bitterness and a definite dusty, tannic, grainy bite that is off putting. I don’t get a ton of the cinnamon, but I suppose there is a bit of a spice bite.

T - Starts off with a mix of dark chocolate, dark fruits, and some vanilla. Through the middle, the cinnamon comes through with some black licorice, molasses, and a touch of roasted coffee. The finish is a mix of roasted dark chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, and black licorice.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and roasty finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced with some good flavors mixed in. Cinnamon is a nice touch. OldGrowth (3665) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - AUG 27, 2012
10oz pour at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, sweet. Cocoa, vanilla, get a little smoke. Dark Orangy brown color, little to no head or lace. Sweet flavor. medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, sweet finish. Good, not liking as much as Terrapin version imo. A.watered.down version, minorly so, but noticbly different mikesaum (712) - Newark, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2012
Pours like a stout, just a much lighter head, a sort of light brown. Aroma is nice and very spicy with the cinnamon cocoa and vanilla, very complex aroma, lots of layers a bit of booze as well. Chocolate starts the flavor strong cinnamon mid palate then vanilla ends it all out, but it leaves an odd cosmetic taste on the palate. Overall its a pretty good brew despite the odd finish swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 26, 2012
