Dark color, almost black, with beige compact head. Smell of old wood. Somehow also the flavor recalls old furniture, old sofa, some cocoa, leather; there is some chocolate malt and spices.
Weird but not bad.
22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out spicy peppers and cinnamon. Flavour is quite nasty, with stale spicy cinnamon upfront, with some spicy peppers. Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper (against strong light) with a foamy tan head. Aroma is primarily coffee/chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, cinnamon. \Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, tobacco, cinnamon, vanilla and light cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. A clear mahogany brown ale with a thick lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet nutty coffee malt with caramel notes, chocolate, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with coffee, nuts, very nice and interesting. Bottle at Brooklyn Pour 2013.

22oz bottle. Cola dark-brown body with large tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet, vanilla, some cocoa, cinnamon. Taste is moderately sweet, cocoa, cinnamon, some vanilla, caramel, light booziness. Bottle from variety pack Dec 2013. Pours hazy chestnut colored with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is huge hot peppers, coffee, some cacao. Tastes of coffee, roasty dark malt mild nuts, molasses, cacao, and jalapeno flavor late. Deep brown, nearly black, with a foamy light tan head. Very lovely nose of vanilla bean and cocoa nibbs and earthy fresh coffee, almost like a tiramisu. The flavor unfortunately falls apart a wee bit with some sort of flavor like chilli heat and bitter cocoa, with a bitter earthy woody vanilla tone and slightly acrid coffee. Overall its okay and somewhat tasty but it’s such a disappointment from the nose that it’s nearly hard to bear. More bitter and spicey than it ought to be.
