Sampled on draught at the Horseshoe in Hampstead. Pours a mahogany colour with a loose foamy head. This is a proper English ESB! Great taste with lots of earthy, nutty flavours and notes of leather, wood and caramel. Good bitter finish. Really delicious with a long, lingering, hoppy aftertaste. This beer benefits greatly from being cask conditioned. I was lucky enough to taste it under optimal conditions - fresh and clean! Highly drinkable! Sampled @ 27th Egham Beer Festival 2017. A clear orange brown beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of nutty hops, caramel, mild roasted malt. Taste of caramelish malt, nuts, butter, mild spicy hops, okay. JoshRaburn (721) - - JUL 11, 2017
Nice malty dark brown old ale type of thing, with enough hops to balance it out. The cask seemed to really bring out the flavours on this one. Scopey (15725) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2017
Cask at The Lyric. It pours clear deep brown with a medium beige white head. The aroma is malt - driven, fruit cake, brown, wood, leather, berry and caramel. The taste is dry, earthy bitterness, leather, peppery, berry skin, juniper, soapy citrus and wood varnish. Finish is drying and earthy. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent enough stuff. Good condition helps it along. BeardedAvenger (1126) - Addlestone, Surrey, ENGLAND - MAY 4, 2017
Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Vague malty aroma. Chestnut. Dregs of a white head. Sweet and malty. The more I drink the more sweet it’s seems to get. Caramel and berries. Light. Watery but there is a softness to it, even if the carbonation is quiet. Abrupt finish. Nice enough but unexciting.

Cask at the Magpie, deep mahogany with a lasting loose foam, cocoa on the nose, initially softly sweet and fruity, then drying with cocoa, peppery bitterness and roast red fruit taking over. This is a tweaked Frost Fair, by the way. niquillis (2752) - Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 25, 2017
Cask at Sparrow, Bradford. Pours ruby with off white head. A bit thin, some dark fruit, hint of spice. A bit lacking. downender (8891) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 8, 2017
Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 27/2/2017. Copper red in colour, with a moderately-sized, off-white, head. Red berry and tangerine fruits, rich, digestive malts and a touch of spiciness, before a moderately dry finish. Good. theprof (1246) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2017
Cask. Aroma of toasted malts. Pours rich brown copper with cream foam top diminishing lacing. Taste has nutty twiggy notes amidst a fruity hop centre so quite a complex ruby beer with a soft bitter finish. Leighton (22307) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2017
Bottle at home in London - sourced from the Drinker’s Paradise. Pours clear copper with a small, foamy off-white head. The aroma holds dried berries, toasted grains, some leather. Light sweet flavour with notes of earth and dirty leaves, which give some bitterness, along with more aged berry notes, drying leather, crusty brown bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty basic in the finish, with more toasted grains, brown bread, some leafy hops, leathery berries. Quite pedestrian, but drinkable enough.
