Poured into the glass in has a dark amber color. Caramel dominates the aroma with some roasted malts. Taste is smooth more caramel and roasted fruits. There is aslo a sweetness to it. Good finish. ronaldtheriot (1934) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - FEB 28, 2012
Reutberger Export Dunkel has a thick, off-white head, and a dark, clear, copper appearance, with some streaming bubbles. The aroma is very sweet and malty, and it has almost a cane syrup aspect. Taste is medium-roasted, sweet, syrupy barley malt, a bit of turned fruit, and a slight hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Reutberger Export Dunkel finishes crisp, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Overall, this is an excellent beer. RJT

On tap at Biergarten in San Francisco. Dark amber brown in color with a large foamy khaki colored head. Great aroma of sweet caramel, toffee, toast, and some Munich malts. Caramel and toffee malt base, medium sweetness, with some strong toasty notes and mild fruit. Complex. Medium-bodied with a good level of carbonation. Really liked this one overall.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2012 Translucent amber with a thick beige head. Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation.Nijhazer (10) - - DEC 13, 2011
Aroma: caramely munich malt, some dark-roasted grainy astringency, and a bit of minerality.
Taste: grainy husky tanins, roasted barley, and a bit of minerality.
To me, it is similar to Warsteiner Dunkel.
Sweet, almost too malty, but not quite overpowering. Not much complexity to this, but great flavor for what it is.

Bottle at World of Beer. Pours a clear dark amber color with a dense foamy beige head that fades rather quickly. Aroma has roasted caramel malt notes. Similar flavor with some additional spice notes. Not overly sweet like some dunkels. BeerViking (4788) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 17, 2011
50cl bottle from Bavaria, malty nose, roast malt, burnt caramel and a balancing bitterness on the palate. A nice dunkel. bpreo (2840) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - OCT 13, 2011
It’s just a whole lot of nothing special. I like Americanized versions of German beers a lot better than authentic German beers. Maybe that’s because I’m an American? Funny, cause I’m actually a German-American.
