.5 L, capped bottle: clear, orange-brown with bronze highlights. Sweet, malty aroma with fruity undertones and a bit of toasted & buttered bread. Plate is a bit thin and underdeveloped, but does boast a pretty decent malted grain and roasted nut flavour. A light milk-chocolate comes through in the finish, but this one was a little disappointing – not quite as robust and rounded as I would have liked.

Caramel and malt aroma. Clear chestnut brown colour and lasting off-white head. Nice complexity of flavours, malt and toffee, but it’s undermined halfway through by an intrusive roasted citrus. Mmph.

Bottle from the brewery. Clear, mahogany brown colour. Quite dry with lots of roast flavours and caramel. Nice.

50cl bottle from Bavaria, malty nose, roast malt, burnt caramel and a balancing bitterness on the palate. A nice dunkel.

Bottle at World of Beer. Pours a clear dark amber color with a dense foamy beige head that fades rather quickly. Aroma has roasted caramel malt notes. Similar flavor with some additional spice notes. Not overly sweet like some dunkels.

A very good dunked that can be purchased easily here in the states. Had three German beers during the 2014 World Cup game between Germany and Portugal and this on was the best by far.

Pouring a light-but-rich, bright brown body with a creamy tan head, this dunkel has a strong roasted malt aroma containing hints of coffee and chocolate. This is carried across into the flavor of this robustly bodied beer. There’s good roasted malt flavors here with a spritzy mouthfeel and a pleasantly bitter finish. Good drink.

A malty bready nutty medium sweet brew with little detectable hop character/bitterness. I can appreciate the this example of the style, but it’s not going to make my shopping list.
