Bottle; poured a dark auburn with a khaki colored head. Aroma was quite nice; doughy, caramel, nuts with a bit of cocoa dust. Flavor was not as good; dry and malty. Alot of chocolate malt with a good dash of mineral water. Some earthiness and caramel, with a small, but noticeable hop presence in the finish. Palate was at times a bit on the watery side. Ok, but expected more after the solid aroma.

Bottle. Pours a near-perfect, for a dunkel, clear, slightly red, dark brown with a fantastic thick tall foamy beige froth 4.5. Aroma of hay, munich malts, sweet and nutty, hint of chocolate. Flavor follows, dark but light and drinkable, not terribly sweet either, earthy, chocolate, bread and hay, nutty, fairly bitter finish. Watery body, med/light, slightly heavy but with low carbonation and no stickiness making it easy to drink. Satisfying.

50cl bottle from Bavaria, malty nose, roast malt, burnt caramel and a balancing bitterness on the palate. A nice dunkel.

Bottle at World of Beer. Pours a clear dark amber color with a dense foamy beige head that fades rather quickly. Aroma has roasted caramel malt notes. Similar flavor with some additional spice notes. Not overly sweet like some dunkels.

A very good dunked that can be purchased easily here in the states. Had three German beers during the 2014 World Cup game between Germany and Portugal and this on was the best by far.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2017 Tap at the Klosterbräustüberl. Clear ruby-brown color with tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, rusty nails, chocolate. Taste is chocolate, rusty nails, earthy. Natural carbonation, full-bodied and refreshing. Good Dunkles, a bit too much rusty nails for my personal liking.
