Bottle (Batch L4145) and served in my little used Nut Brown Ale glsss: DuffMan (10456) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 18, 2006
Pours more of a dark cola hue with a nice sized creamy off-white head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of nutty and chocolate malt sweetness, dusty yeast esters, hint of floral hops, tobacco, and a touch of smoke. The taste is quite nice for a dunkel, not has caramel sweet as other I have had, more of a cleaner roasted malt flavor with some good bitter balance. A constant bittersweet chocolate and mild acidic fruit theme runs throughout adding nice depth of palate. The mouthfeel has soft carbonation and quite smooth, never cloying. A surprising good bier and glad to have tried it and may again.
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2006 Found this on the menu in Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant Spago in Caesar’s resort in Vegas. This respected german chef cares about his beer choices! I love a good dunkel, and this fits the bill-- slightly orange-brown with a tall tan head. Loads of caramel, faint chocolate, with hints of pear-apple fruit and charred toast. Delicious! mgumby10 (1856) - Jupiter, Florida, USA - JAN 19, 2007
Pours a light amber with light white head. Smells of syrupy fruits and roasted malts. I have heard this beer compared tot a peanut butter, jelly, and banana sandwich. I can see the comparison. Definitely get that in the taste with some malts and a little chocolate, reminiscent of most dunkels I’ve had. Very good brew. v8powered (157) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 25, 2009
Good carmel nutty flavor and filled with malt. A little bit of bitterness but it is well balanced with the flavors in the beer. Some good earth flavor tells you it is a German beer. The finish tapers off quickly but is still very enjoyable. Drake (13954) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 27, 2013
Half liter bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a clear chestnut color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of bakers chocolate, caramel, mild dark fruits. The taste is dark malts, dry raisin, chocolate, mild hops. Medium bodied, decent balance. Nice beer.

Bottled 0,50L. Dark brown color, good bubbly presence with a creamy head of long duration, realy elegant aspect. Typical braced cereals aroma, very equilibrate nose with rumors of wood and soil. Good crisp mouth, equilibrate bitter content with a pleasant alcoholic final. FatPhil (16392) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 16, 2009
500ml bottle (BeerAngel.de)Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 5, 2012
Deep red, large doughy head. GRainy nutty arona. Full palate. Big roasty toasty taste, almost buttered, with a dollop of cream and jam.Pleasant bitterness too, this is full-bodied, and tasty, yet delightlyfully refreshing. Dunkel as it should be.
It’s mahogany red with a creamy, dense and lasting head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, nuts and milk chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, nuts, a little dark fruits, and the finish is roasted and dry again with some dark fruits. A very nice dunkel. garmonbozia (429) - Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA - JUN 5, 2013
