mcberko (18979) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 16, 2015
2011 vintage. 500mL bottle, pours inky black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out decadent chocolate, a touch of roast, alcohol and some sherry oxidation. Flavour is decadent and complex as hell, with liqueur, booze and chocolate. Boozy, but in a pleasant way. Liqueury on the finish. Really a wonderful beer.

At the multi-national tasting held in Rome-Italy on 29/08/2015 (Jow, Mortlach, ippopotamo36 and Marco). Last beer of a great tasting, bottle. Pours deep black with a minimal brownish foam. Nose: molasses, dry fruit, vanilla, dry figs. Uh! Mouth: sweet and balanced cherries notes, burnt malts, rich-sweet balanced character, vanilla, dry fruit.

The last beer at the Rome tasting and its only fitting to go with a highly rated Italian brew to finish after previously drinking brews only from Albania, Croatia, Tunisia, Malta, Estonia, Denmark, Serbia, Kosovo, New Zealand, Belgium and the US. Pours thick oil can black. Nose of over ripe fruits, espresso, and booze. Tastes of molasses, blackberry, tobacco, cherry, brandy, espresso, chocolate, plums, and some earthy bitters to finish. rich and thick and delicious. Thanks again Alberto for hosting the excellent tasting.

Courtesey of Kraddel. Sampled 500 ml. bottle @ De Rampkrot. Brewed in 2011 – Bottled in 2012. Bottle number 1349/1650. Pours blackish dark brown with head. Nose is quite interesting boozy, warming spirit-like with strong sherry & plastic oxidation notes, syrupy, sweet, warming,… Taste has interesting glue-like & sherry-like oxidation notes, very boozy & heavily oxidized in an interesting way, light plastic, huge spirit-like quality, syrup, bitter chocolate, dark coffee,… Flat, oily,…. I am not the biggest fan of vintage Imperial Stouts but this is an interesting experiment in aging & oxidation for sure. Fun beer.

Pour oily black, with thin tan head and a brownish hue. Aroma has some chocolate, cacao powder, caramel, slight licorice, syrup. Taste is pretty sweet, with a faint bitterness, but is dominantly sweet. Slight alcohol burn in the throat, but not like 14% media bodied, with a flat carbonation. Slightly pricking on the tongue, probably from the good ol’ booze.

Pours black with a tiny brown lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, sweet ripe fruits, caramel, syrup and vanilla. Big and smooth imperial stout smell. The taste got some sweet liquorice, dark cocoa, molasses, syrup, dark sweet fruits and a rather savory end. The body is rather flat. Extremely well done! Where is the 14% in this exactly?

Jaksmart (456) - Aarhus, DENMARK - OCT 18, 2014
Bottle. Pitch black, almost no head. Aroma has lots of booze, raisins, darker berries, port, oak. Taste is rich, warm, sticky with molasses, a bit of roast and loads of chocolate.
